The equipment should not be bound to us. This makes hard to get rid of things or buy and only takes us space, and makes planning far to ahead in the game and take part in the fun.

The only real reason I feel
The only real reason I feel stuff shouldn't be bound to us when we equip is if we want someone else to upgrade it for us. It's kind of a hassle when people have a recipe I need, but one of the requisite items is a Lvl5+ of the item prior to it.
So my choices are...give them the materials to make the item I already have, have them level it up, and then give them more materials to make the upgrade or painstakingly hunt for the recipe myself.
Which right now is somewhat annoying, tbh, because I've seen two or three people offering to upgrade the Tempered Calibur to the Cold Iron Carver (which I want) but the recipe is ridiculously rare.
I don't know, just my opinion, I guess.

Since the game doesn't have leveling, it focuses on gear. This would make it way too easy to get high gear.
Your inventory is unlimited. You can vendor items bound to you. Usually, you're upgrading items that you equip. It in no way indicates that you need to plan far ahead.
So, you're wrong on every count.
