Are my sets viable?

So, im aiming for something simple, without a great need of more weapon slots (only 1 should be great for my builds) and something that dosent inflict statuses on enemies.

The first one is my Uniknight, universal for everything, with Tempered calibur, cobalt armor and helm, defender, and blaster, its for having kinda good defence and attack everywhere i go without having to stick to melee or ranged all the time, just what i feel like doing at the moment, not dedicated to anything, wich can be a blessing and a curse, but it gives some freedom. Also it looks good. After i get annother weapon slot i will add the flourish line.

The second one is my swordmaster set. I have Tempered Calibur again, good for everything, a prismatech alcheimer to deal with nasty puppy turrets and other menacing machines, wolver set and bristling buckler, maybe after i buy annother weapon slot i will add the flourish line (again).

Yes, those are pretty

Yes, those are pretty general, and you'll be able to hit anything you could possibly want without incurring any damage penalties. However, your sets' defenses are entirely Piercing-based, which is a concern if you also want to be able to defend against anything.

If you have Wolver, is there

If you have Wolver, is there any reason to equip Cobalt, ever? The defenses are nearly identical, except that Wolver gets freeze resist and sword DMG+. So yeah. Similarly, not seeing much benefit to defender over bristling buckler. Now, armors/shields that have elemental and shadow defense? Yeah, might be a reason to take those over wolver/bristling buckler, but straight up Cobalt? Not really.

Oh, and Calibur is an awesome sword, if it's the only one you're using. No real drawbacks, dependable, and just all around good. Once you do get that other slot and add in Flourish (also very good, if more specialized), you might want to consider swapping out (Tempered) Calibur for a sword with energy or shadow damage; with two types of non-normal damage, you'll have all your bases covered (always able to do at least normal to every enemy, and extra damage to 4/6 types) anyway, so there's less use for an all 'rounder sword.

EDIT: Though, you ask about viable? Yeah, all the stuff you outlined is viable. You don't need to optimize to play this game, really. Though do note that Tier 2 you start dealing with enemies dealing piercing/shadow/elemental damage, so know what you're defended against and how (e.g. an owlite shield can block Gun Puppy bullets better but won't help if you get hit while not shielding/shieldbroken). With that armor, enemies that deal shadow or elemental will really hurt you. It's hard to protect against everything, though. Just thought I'd bring it up.

Just my 2cr.

Lol

Yes, but in later tiers you're going to be focused on offense too. A jelly shield at least has stun protection, and the 5 star plate shield has piercing too with a heap of normal. The best piercing shield, though, is the bristling buckler and it's upgrades.

For defensive shields i'd recommend the plate shield------>Volcanic Plate Shield (NOT Ironmight) , the owlite shield or the Crest of Almire (but you have to be really good to obtain this)

No cobalt armor, because it stinks. Wolver is fine though. Getting a gun is nice too.

I got the Cobalt Armor and

I got the Cobalt Armor and Helm myself a while back before I "discovered" Wolver. Now, I wish I'd not gotten the armor. Helm, I don't regret too much, as I love the look of it and use it as my main costume. Just like i never use the Volt Breaker armor as armor, just as my costume. Not that appearance really matters, but since I have it and it's already bound, why not?

Well...

You got these right...
1. Elemental gun idea is right on. 2 out of 3 turrets are weak against elemental, and the other is neutral.
2. You also got the flourish idea right. The piercing swords are 100% piercing so they will deal much more damage against targets weak against piercing with your wolver than the elemental or shadow swords (which are half of normal and half of their type)

I agree with others' advice though:
1. Ignore your cobalt for now and upgrade your wolver. Cobalt provide no additional benefit over wolver (You can still use the cobalt as a costume.)
2. Defender line is worse than Thorn Shield line precisely because it's only a little more defense whereas your Bristling Buckler gives out a sword damage bonus which would make stuff die faster probably causing you to take less hits.

"Bristling Buckler gives out

"Bristling Buckler gives out a sword damage bonus which would make stuff die faster "

Not exactly since we dont know the HP of the monsters the damage increase could be negligible.
Ex:
HP: 100
Original damage: 20
Hits to kill: 5
Increased damage: 24
Hits to kill: Still 5

Well, let's not be too nitpicky about hits...

Heh ^^

Still, it boils down to a preference of either a marginal damage increase or or a marginal defense bonus.

The example is a bit, rigged.

The example is a bit, rigged. It might actually be +5 damage, which would mean four hits. Could go either way.

If you have Wolver and

If you have Wolver and Bristling Buckler there is no reason to ever touch your Cobalt again outside of costume. The Bristling Buckler line will give you all the piercing defense you need and when you get it to *5 it will go form Sword Damage Bonus Low to Medium.

I love the Calibur/Blaster combo and it has served me well for many, many solo runs. If you find yourself really only shooting constructs though, you will see a benefit to switching out to an elemental sidearm.

Short answer is yes, both sets are viable. However, there is no meaning to keep the cobalt & defender unless you just like the looks. Period. Your other set will give you more protection by warding against Freeze, plus all together Full Wolver + Bristling Buckler will give your sword a Damage Bonus of High (1+1+1).

Add in a Slash Module trinket and hit DMG Very High. Upgrade that trinket to Elite and bump it Ultra. You will hit sword damage Maximum easily with BTS and or Skolver. I went this route and was swinging Sword Damage Ultra for my Dusker - Ash Tail sets.
