I noticed a recent wiki edit where relevant content was removed on the grounds that the editor's knight appeared in a video taken by another player, and they didn't want it on the wiki. I didn't create or post the video, and I have no personal stake in this particular edit, but this strikes me as worrisome.
Does the wiki have any official policy regarding the use of in-game images/videos when someone who appears in the video doesn't want it to be used?
I can kind of understand wanting control over representations of your knight, but if the image was taken from someone else's game client--especially in town--that seems like public information. You can't stop someone from photographing you in a public place, and someone screen-capping your knight in the Haven town square seems like a similar case.
Also, it would be nearly impossible for non-solo players to post any screenshots at all if they had to proactively acquire the permission of every person showing up in a screenshot before posting it. I know all the pictures I've uploaded showing various Danger Room layouts have also included whatever random knights I happened to be grouped with at the time, for example.
On the other hand, if there ARE solid legal or privacy-related reasons that this stuff shouldn't be allowed on the wiki, that still doesn't seem like something that should be handled by a revert. Wouldn't we need to get an admin involved and purge the offending content from the page history as well? You're not really protecting someone's privacy if the info is still there for anyone to see in the log.
I dont want to start a moral or legal debate, but if you dont want the public to see your name and how your knight looks (that's the only 'private' things you can see on a screenshot) , you may as well not play at all.
