Since someone told me to post this as a sepperate issue, though it was in the same style topic, I'll re-post this as a thread.
I started playing on the 08th, and ever since I started to play, I'd have some FPS issues.
At least, I think they are FPS issues. My signal strength stays the same(About 3-4 bars), and I'm running out of options.
The graphics are set to low,
compatability is on
yet every 10 minutes, the frame rate drops, to where I can't play. Can you imagine going into a dungeon, then five minutes later, you're stuck lagging through out the rest of the dungeon, all the other players are getting mad at you, probably thinking you're stupid as you're running into walls, spikes, and enemies, wasting your energy just to keep trying, attempting to fight?
Anyways, with out further a-do, here's the specs
Windows 7 64-bit
Geforce 9100 video card(Which has over 3.23 gb of ram)
8gb of RAM
1tb of memory
AMD phenom II processor.
FPS issues(I think anyone with the same troubles should post here, too.)
Yes, I'm using a desktop. I've already updated the java to where it'd be the 64-bit. I'm currently doing what you've reccomended, by downloading the most recent NVidia release. And the video card is well within the recommended settings, and runs ,"Normally" through the low, medium, and High settings, with out fault. I can play low settings on Modern Warfare, as you may/may not know, is a pretty high graphics game, and you could tell whenever it may be a lag issue. What I'm thinking, is that it may be an internet issue. Though I've done ping tests, and they said my internet is good, I've always had slight moments of ,"Lag" that would interfere. Just like Final Fantasy XIV, I played beta, and everything would play fine, until I came into an over-whelming group of people. It'd lower the frame rate, and I'd be able to not really do much of anything. Same with that, I played FFXIV on high settings, and it ran smoothly. So, my video card is proper for low graphic games such as this, and others. but, it doesn't hurt looking up updates, and getting other people's opinions. Probably Spiral Knights may need to do the right thing, and open up multiple servers. That, or take a look at what Cartoon Network is doing for a semi-browser based mmorpg, 'cause I don't get problems when playing Fusion Fall.
What is more key here is that Modern Warfare (and FFXIV) is a big ticket DirectX game that the graphics card vendors produce heavily customized driver profiles for that really make the game shine. You can look down the release notes for any NVidia or ATI/AMD driver release and count the big AAA titles that got "blah blah blah percent improvement." They put more work into optimizing their drivers for benchmarks than many games.
Spiral Knights here is an OpenGL based game. OpenGL is a competing technology to DirectX that has very little big ticket titles. It does not sell hardware the way DirectX does. As such, improvements are slow and rarely noted in the release notes. This means that you traditionally need a bit more grunt to run an OpenGL title because the vendors take less time to optimize it to run on their hardware, sometimes even neglecting important features in the software. This makes it all the more important to make sure your drivers are up to date so that your vendor has had the time to do things right.
I realize that, but if there's a problem, you notice it right there in the games. Higher graphic settings on a crappy video card-you'd more then likely be moving in spots you didn't move to, so you lower it, and it's fine. What I'm saying that on Spiral Knights, everything stays fine, I move around, la-de-da-like, and then--BAM! It's like you hit massive lag for >1 minute, and can't control where you move, or attack 'til it sets in fine again. Which, it does this through out the graphic quality, so that's why I'm sure it's not a graphics issue. I'll test this later on this evening, when the nvidia update finishes, and I'll let you know whether or not it works.
I just tested it ,and it seems to run a little bit better, but it lagged at the end of the dungeon. :( It seems to still be stuck in the mode, but now when I move in the arcade, the character moves, and causes a big square patches to move along. It's hard to explain.
You're using a desktop, correct? If you haven't already done a driver update you should use the most recent official NVidia release. Also, a quick check to make sure your Java is up to date also helps.
With an integrated video chipset it's unlikely you'll be able to play above the "low" settings.
