I have heard about team balancing in Team Fortress 2, and possibly other multiplayer games. One time, while I was playing Lockdown, I found out some of my teammates left, which leaves fewer players on my team compared to the enemy's. So, I was wondering if there would be an auto-balancing system on Lockdown, so that it would be fair.

auto balance only exacerbates

auto balance only exacerbates the underlying problem.... people quitting in the first place. People get so focused on trying to obtain rewards that they bail if even think the odds aren't in their favor.

Auto-balance would be

Auto-balance would be terrible. Picture this: The krogmo prize is some bombhead mask you've been wishing you had for ages, and your team is winning; you're putting in a heroic effort and it's about to pay off as you're just seconds away from a complete shut-out victory.

Half the other team rage quits, and you get auto-balanced to the losing side. Sucks to be you!

It "works" in TF2 because there's no prize for winning other than bragging rights.

Noooo no side switching. This

Noooo no side switching.
This works in games like quake, where theres no reward, and your skills are recorded accurately. Nicoya hit the nail on the head.
I figure if you have half the members, each of your members should take over bases twice as quickly. Generaly the only problem with getting outnumbered is the fact that they can have one guy run around and cap all the bases. Getting attacked by two guys at once on the other hand, isn't the problem.

You can probably make it work

You can probably make it work by slotting new people in if the match is close or the early enough. Someone ragequits when the bribe doesn't fill; grab someone from the queue and put him in, there's no real prejudice against the person (and I'm shocked the system doesn't already do this). The fight is 400 to 390; it can still go either way even on the smallest of maps, grab someone.

If it's 490 to 100, then I imagine you should just suck it up and wait till the next round though.
