Everytime I play, 30 minutes in, 1 hour in, it always occurs in the middle of something. The window freezes and I can't do anything about it.

Here's what I've tried:
1. Clicking close and trying to end the program
2. Going into Task Manager and trying to end the Java process

The only way to "close" it is to restart my computer. I've searched this problem but in those topics, there were no solutions.

HELP

Tried installing a few days ago. Same thing happens.

I also wiped the old registry files just before installing again just to make sure but the game still freezes and won't close at random times.

I can only see this as either

I can only see this as either the JVM being stuck in an infinite loop or it execution stalled because it needs a resource it can't access. I do have a strong Bias against Norton products for number of reasons, but other then a rootkit or a virus, I can't see anything else being close enough to the kernel to interfere with a typically stable program.

You can try uninstalling all your java version and reinstall the latest Sun java 6, or try out Oracles JRE 7.

Theres always reinstalling

Theres always reinstalling Windows... I'm pretty sure it'll work, but ...you know... effort and all.

Unless its the video drivers stalling. Although that might be harder to track down if its not showing in the logs.

Probly not gonna do that.

Probly not gonna do that. Thanks for all your help though.

You're really picking up the slack for the Admins that should really be responding to these Tech help topics.

This is a user driven support

This is a user driven support forum. If you want/need direct help from OOO you need to submit a support ticket. http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Support_Portal

The major advantage with this type of forum though is you usually have a handful of tech savvy players that can go beyond the scope that the official tech support is allowed. Obviously we can't be authoritative on something, but for most issues we wouldn't need to be.

But one thing I glanced over and forgot to post was checking out the projectx.log file. Depending how bad the lock is, it may had dropped something in there that could clue us into whats happening.

You'll find it in C:\users\(you)\appdata\locallow\spiral\ if you in Windows 7.
