It's a little annoying to have to hit mineral nodes and other objects three times with my gigantic, slow sword. It would be nice if these objects broke in one hit with a very slow sword or two hits with a medium-speed sword, aside from situations where breaking through blocks could affect gameplay balance. Just changing the mineral nodes would be a nice improvement.
I don't use weapons like that (yet?) but I can support this. I've been working with people that do and while I've slashed two blocks down with my calibur, they're still working on one and I think that's silly.
But on the other hand, if you do this, it would automatically assume the strength from a slower speed weapon is always greater than that of a higher speed weapon. So perhaps blocks/mineral should just have a general HP count.
