Antigua line - Normal rather than Piercing

This weapon line seems very underwhelming compared to its Sealed Sword counterpart. While part of that is simply that guns are kind of underwhelming next to swords in general right now, it's also due in part to these weapons having twice as many targets being highly resistant to half of the weapons' damage. Making that worse is the fact that the enemies that are not highly resistant to either Piercing or Shadow are frequently enemies that also have auto-dodging if shot at/near when not in some kind of attacking animation.

Given that this line is the only other weapon line in the game with a 25 Jelly Gem barrier to entry, I feel like it needs better returns compared to the Sealed Sword. Replacing Piercing with Normal damage would allow these guns to be more widely used across gates as a "primary" gun, as the Sealed Sword and further lines are to the sword options.

It wouldn't fix the massive disparity between the two weapon types that exists right now, but it would help make this line feel like less of a niche choice to those spending their Jelly Gems.

I don't agree with your suggetion.

Normal damage are actually the worst kind of damage because you don't get any bonuses. Changing Antigua the way you've suggested would actually nerf it. Normal damage are good for new players who are still learning the ropes and has a very vague idea about damage and monster types. But that's it. The more advanced players price Piercing/Shadow/Elemental above Normal damage.

Normal damage, as well as swords, are for simple-minded people wo like simple ideas. So it's good that Sealed Sword does normal damage because sword users are not able to handle more sophisticated ideas ;-)

Antigua does Piercing damage and can be upgraded to deal additional Shadow or Elemental damage. This gives player much more options to deal extra damage and improve one's efficiency but also involves more sophisticated tactical thinking. But guns generally involve more thinking so it's ok.

Please read a post below about Antigua. If Antigua had Normal damage instead of Piercing, the combo mentiond in this post would be useless. And that would make me sad panda :-(

Your response doesn't make a lot of sense, merethif.

Take Sentenza. Were the gun Normal/Shadow, it'd be strong against Slime/Gremlin, neutral to Beast/Construct, and weak to Fiend/Undead. You don't have any more options as Piercing/Shadow, they're just shuffled (at least according to the post you're quoting). There wouldn't be any more efficiency or sophisticated thinking involved.

However I'm not positive this weapon is actually neutral against anything as it exists. 4 of the 6 enemy types respond with grey damage when hit with it in-game. The two enemy types that it should be strong against (Beast/Gremlin) only respond with blue damage.

Argent, however, is fantastic.
