Does a shield protect you from "elemental damage" even though you didn't block that projectile?

It might be a nooby question, I know, but I want to make my investments count. The situation is, is that I have an Angelic body and helmet armor, which means that wearing that will make my character more vulnerable to fire. I am trying to balance it out by possibly equipping a fire shield so I could be somewhat more resistant against fire (I'm thinking of getting the Horned Owl or Drake Scale Shield).

My question is, even though I am not blocking, will the shield protect me from fire a little, even though my Body armor + helmet's weakness is fire? Will all defensive things equal to one stat that go together?

Shield's stats is strictly

Shield's stats is strictly shield only, it won't add into you stats. Not too sure if a UV's bonus works on you though.

Hmm...ok. Well if it doesn't

Hmm...ok. Well if it doesn't add along with my armor stats, I guess I am still going to get a fire resistant shield anyway, just to be at least safe when I DO block. Does anyone know any good 3-star fire resistant shield I should get?

The wiki is useful!

http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Shields lists, well shields. Of those, I found fire resistance in:

http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Blazebreak_Shield - Fairly good, although it cannot be crafted any futher and has to be crafted up from a 1-star shield.

http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Drake_Scale_Shield - Otherwise alright, but I really wish you luck on getting those two Critter Carapaces needed!

http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Horned_Owlite_Shield - Fire and Shock resist, a fairly good crafting path and all? This isn't bad if you can find Owlite Feathers. I don't think they're as impossible as Carapaces, though.

Owlite feathers drop

Owlite feathers drop frequently from Fiends (often Devilites, for some reason) in Tier 2.

ya owlite feathers are not

ya owlite feathers are not tough at all. and basically if you get hit with say fire and you're set on fire, and you have an owlite shield, put your shield up and it will block some of its damage.
that being said im convinced that the stats are strictly active shield only
