Unsure about what to get after unlocking Tier 2

So I headed into Tier 2 for the first time with my 2* gear, expecting it to be like Tier 1. Well, I was off by that one. My party got to the terminal, but because we were doing the Roarmulus Twins, on the very next level, the dot in the upper right hand corner turned red and I began getting owned. I'm guessing I need at least 3* gear for finishing Tier 2. My current stuff is:

Calibur
Blaster
Cobalt Helm
Cobalt Armor
Defender

I also have the Snarble Barb and Bristling Buckler. The thing is, where do I go from here? Does it depend on whether I want to do Twins or JK? Should I just upgrade all my current stuff to their 3* counterpart? Should I get an Owlite shield? Should I get a weapon for all four types of damage? Any help would be much appreciated.

More informations

To be able to answer to your situation correctly, more informations are needed :
- how many weapon slots do you plan to use ? 2, 3 or 4 ?
- what will be your primary role ? swordsman with a gun side-arm (what you currently are) or something else ?
- do you plan to do more JK or the Twins ? Piercing defense is better for JK, Elemental defense is better for the Twins.

The only thing you should consider to update is your calibur, if you plan to use a general purpose sword with a gun as a side-arm, on 2 weapon slots.

Blaster is bad, other guns do the job better.
Cobalt is general purpose, as a first armor you generally want one which fit your role
Defender doesn't have much point, you'd better go with the Bristling Buckler which have a nice sword damage bonus (except if you are not going to be a swordsman) or an Owlite for elemental defense (which is also very good for general purpose).

What Dark Ritual?

The Calibur and Blaster are decent. They're fine for now, until you can beat KJ (King Jelly) and RT (Roarmulus Twins) more.

You'll want to keep that Snarble Barb, but won't want to use it quite yet, as Construct (RT Levels) and Slime (KJ Levels) have enemies which are both strong against piercing, the damage the Snarble Barb does. You may want to switch your gear to the wolver line/magic line, as the wolver line gives piercing as the cobalt does, but also with a sword damage bonus and freeze resist.
The magic line gives elemental damage protection, along with a fire and shock resist. Your defender is good, but I suggest you use that Bristling Buckler instead, as it also gives youva sword damage bonus. So if your using the wolver set along with the bristling buckler, you'll have a High Damage Boost to all enemies when using a sword.

After you have enough tokens from beating those bosses, you may want to get a Pulsar (A gun from RT) and make it into a Kilowatt Pulsar which does elemental damage. I also suggest from when you have enough tokens from KJ, you get 2 Sealed Swords (Will probably take a while, I know.) and a Antigua. Your best net there would be to make the Antigua into a silversix, then your first sealed sword into a avenger/Faust. Lastly, make that last sealed sword into a avenger/Faust (Whichever one you havn't made yet.).

Finally, you will want a Owlite Shield. I suggest you use this instead of a Bristling Buckler except when you go to beat King Jelly.

Hope this helped!

Bigfootm.

:)

This will take a bit of time, but it is

Thank you both for the quick

Thank you both for the quick reply. To answer Fradow's questions:
1. I plan to eventually spend money on this game by getting a UGC and buying 3500 CE. Once I do that I will most likely get another weapon slot, but right now I am at two.
2. I like my current role and it will probably stay the same.
3. Well if I'm going to farm KJ so much for the tokens per Bigfootm's advice I am going to be doing a lot of KJ runs, although to get the Pulsar I will have to mix in RT runs as well.

I got the Wolver Set and Owlite Shield and am in the process of getting the Magic set. Thanks again for your help!

Ok, with those infos, to be

Ok, with those infos, to be more specific :
- on 2 slots, one sword and one gun (side-arm), you should keep Calibur for now. It's the best all-purpose sword (you'll want 2 swords and a gun when you have another weapon slot).
- as a side-arm, i agree with Bigfootm, Pulsar is the best side-arm. While gathering tokens, you can either keep the blaster, or take an elemental alchemer to have a little more firepower against the most problematic monsters (constructs). The alchemer as a 2 shot clip tho, and ricochet can be annoying for twins run, so it's not really mandatory.
- again, I would advise the same as Bigfootm for JK (most players say JK for Jelly Kind and not KJ) : wolver armor, which also lead to Vog Cub (ideal armor for end-game), and Bristing Buckler (the best piercing shield for a swordsman).

To summarize, the advised gear would be :
- Calibur (replace by 2 different type swords when you have one more weapon slot and appropriate swords)
- Blaster (replace by Elemental Pulsar)
- Wolver/magic armor/helm
- Bristing Buckler for JK, Owlite shield for twins (you really want Owlite for twins, Buckler doesn't cut it.

RT Runs

Well, if you ever want some friends to farm the RT with the "Fellowship of the Twins" would probably be happy to have you ^.^ go check out my "What gear should I have before attempting..." thread if you'd be interested!
