My problem: Spiral Knights stops recognizing my gamepad during gameplay, typically during transitions (i.e. loading screens between areas). The Device Manager still reports the pad as connected and functional, and the Logitech Profiler shows it as connected and responsive. It works fine with other games, but Spiral Knights just decides to ignore it completely after a random amount of time. I have noticed that the red light on the pad blinks off and then on (once) when this happens during area transitions. After the game stops recognizing the pad, the only way that I've found to reinitialize it is to exit the game and start it up again. It does not appear to be a conflict between the Profiler and SK.
I am using a Logitech Dual Action gamepad, latest driver version 5.9.129.0 (4/27/2010), latest Logitech Profiler version 5.10.127 (6/14/2010). My system is an HP Pavilion dv5, running Win 7 x64 (6.1.7601 Service Pack 1). I am also running SK through Steam.
My theory is that this has something to do with SK being built on Java, while the other games with which this pad has worked have not been Java-based (as far as I know.) I heard somewhere that the Steam overlay causes Java-based games to have fits sometimes.
Has anyone else had this same problem? Is there an updated Logitech driver that I should be using? Is there a way to tell SK, from inside the game, to re-detect the gamepad? Is there a way that I can log this problem in an error message somewhere?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks. I don't have a mouse, so it's either the pad or the keyboard.
UPDATE: I have confirmed that it happens right in the middle of gameplay as well.
Unfortunately not. The game only enumerates input devices on launch, and holds the mapping somewhere in memory. If you check the projectx.log, it might gives some clues to why its being dropped, but the red light sounds like the pad is reinitializing.
