all right, first off I'm a Gunner-Bomber guy, not a gunslinger, but I can't really stand all much fail packed into the gunslinger set, see look at it:
-starts a 3*, so its harder to craft for a UV
-the only GUN damage bonus is the shadow stentson, but it has poison and curse drawbacks, and with the new curse stratum coming up, it'll be still be useless, even if there was an update that boosted the gun damage bonus.
My suggestion:
replace or add a new 5* gunner armor, the Redhot Ricochet,
Pros:
Elemental/Piercing def
damage plus for guns: medium
ASI for guns: low
fire resist
Cons:
Stun drawback
freeze drawback
poison drawback
shock drawback
Charge time INCREASE for bombs: low
no normal defense
attack time DECREASE for swords: low
only +4 max hp at heat lvl 10, not +5.
and also that slightly funny description
-This sash/hat will make your enemies go YOWEE! while you go YEEHAW!

Like I said in the title, I love the description. Made me giggle.
So basically you're saying a Gun Dmg Med & Gun ASI low on each piece? Won't happen.
A drawback to bombs really doesn't affect anyone but hybrids. People will gladly take the bomb drawback to wear this armor. Granted, I'm with most gunners that shadowsun should be Med for each piece instead of low (I realize that guns do less damage, but they do less damage base. The percentage increase I would think to be on par with other class armor sets.. but I digress)
Having double whammy bonuses is great in theory, but it's out of balance with the other sets in the game. The only comparison would be Mad Bomber and that has neg status effects down the board (almost)... and zero +status (where as you suggest +fire resist).
Again, I love the name and the description, but it's out of balance and wouldn't happen. Sorry =(
