what is THE weapon with the highest dps in the game (without uv's). anyone know?

If you're looking for theoretically insane amounts of damage. Wouldn't a Voltaic Tempest in a room literally packed full of zombies be the highest dps possible in any situation?
I know, exceptionally ridiculous situation but the above poster already covered practical dps machines, =p.

Really depends on what you're testing against. Group DPS is different from single target DPS is different from FSC DPS from some random clockworks level DPS.
But either way, DPS is a fairly worseless statistic in the game for most cases. Very rarely are you going to have the kind of long term sustained conditions where a stat like DPS is important. It really only matters on Vanaduke, and for Vana, Blitz Needle is king.
Voltaic Tempest does less damage than Ash of Agni, so it's clearly not the best.
DPS is tough to measure, but I'd bet the overall winner is a 5* bomb. A huge radius plus a danger room or arena yields a heck of a lot of damage per blast. My Nitronome can do 2000+ per explosion in a crowded tier 3 room, with no UV. Other bombs can potentially be even better due to typed damage. Dark Briar Barrage against beasts or fiends probably has the absolute highest damage potential per blast.
Single-target DPS will be won by a sword.
But as the poster above me said, DPS is pretty worthless. Playing without dying is far more important than playing quickly. Guns have relatively low DPS compared to swords or bombs, but in many situations they are the ideal weapon.

I can see what you mean about the 'playing without dying' part, but wouldn't swinging your sword or shooting faster mean killing faster AND being more careful? Instead of waiting a little longer, you could attack before the enemy can, resulting in more attack opportunities and quicker battles. My techniques rely on me to kill quickly to avoid dying. Killing quicker is one of the factors in not dying, staying in the heat of battle long enough can result in deaths. If you say you can dodge and block just fine without DPS, imagine how you would be like with it. Quick to kill and not taking hits instead of just, 'not taking hits'.
I imagine for group and continuous DPS, it would be a Ash of Agni with the room full of whatever monsters.
But if your talking about just the blast, then I imagine it would be a Dark Briar Barrage, agaist a room full of Devilites.
For single target DPS, your going to need a Blitz Needle charge right against a helpless trojan.

What's your argument here? The best defense is a good offense? That's completely ridiculous.
Going in swords swinging and being as aggressive as possible gets you killed in this game. Period. It's all about spacing, enemy control, and timing. Maybe you should go into a T3 devilite encounter and report your results of what happens when you try to maximize dps.
Is it so wrong to be careful and be faster? Can you not be both? Do you have to be really slow to be a good player? NO. The problem is that you think ASI lets people attack aggressively, but has it ever occurred to you that some people are actually good at the game enough to pull it off? Are cautiousness and speed opposites??? Speed IS part of timing. I can't see why you can't appreciate ASI vs. no ASI. And yes, in some cases, a good offense is the best defense. How is that not clear that faster kills=less risk? Do I have to spell it out? T3 Devilite report btw: my faster sword swings helped me interrupt their attacks, which means barely any thrown furniture, thx for asking.

Technically - Radiant Sun Shards. Vs undead, 230 * 8 damage every 2 seconds or so. Y'know, if you place every bomb perfectly without delay. And it's not even 5*.
As for the realistic highest DPS, it's either Blitz Needle, Divine Avenger or Barbarous Thorn Blade. They each have the highest damage potential for a charge attack in their weapon category.
Gran Faust loses to DA on having less projectiles/potential hits per charge, and Final Flourish loses to BTB on having less total damage from the charge attack Though if used against more than one target and fully connecting, Final Flourish would deal more total than BTB, so... this is where saying a given weapon is the best gets difficult.
Swords, DA has the best group DPS if the charge is used well, and BTB has the best single target DPS (again, charge-dependent)
Blitz is definitely the best single target DPS for a gun. Under the PERFECT conditions (3+ enemies per shot with no missing), Polaris has the best group DPS for a gun. Or maybe Biohazard does, nobody's done damage tests for that.
But having the best weapon doesn't do anything for you if you're fighting enemies resistant to it.
