I've already tried searching for the answer to this using the forum's search feature but to no avail. I was wondering if an items level before it is used to upgrade into something else makes any difference. For example, the Defender I used to craft my Great Defender was only level 5 of 10. Would it make any difference to have had it be level 10 before using it to craft that particular item? Or is the stats for a level 1 of the next upgrade completely static (and as such the crafting material's item level would not matter). I know "extra bonuses" from if an item was originally crafted are passed along but I'm not sure if "stats gained from level up" are passed along or anything. I've tried searching for the wiki on this specific question as well and did not find a definite answer.

No, leveling up an item to
No, leveling up an item to Level 10 before crafting it into a higher star item will not give you any benefits for the newly crafted item.
Leveling something up to Level 10 will simply give you the item's maximum possible power (at that current star level).
However, When crafting a 4* or 5* item, the prerequisite item will need to be level 5 (for 4*) or level 10 (for 5*) before it can be used in crafting.
Hope that helps!
Heat is not carried over to the new equipment. Therefore the level it has achieved is merely a requirement to craft the higher star-ed equipment.
No extra stats will be carried over.
