Do you have to unbind something to craft it?

Sorry for the noob question, I'm new to the game and couldn't find my answer on the wiki or searching the forum.
I was attempting to craft an Ash Tail Coat and had a level 6 Dusker Coat equipped. However, when I tried to transmute it it didn't show up in the "special" ciricle and I couldn't drag and drop. I remembered that when crafting level 2-3 stuff the items needed to not be bound. So, I paid 600CE to unbind the coat. Now, it's still not showing up in the circle *and* it's heat reset. I'm really worried I just wasted 600CE on nothing. Also, I'm hestitant to reequip incase I'm right.
Can someone shed some light on this? If I made a mistake, is their a chance a GM would refund the 600CE if I submit a ticket?

You can't have the item equipped when you go to craft it or it won't show up. Also, moving from a 3* to a 4* item, it needs to be at level 5+, meaning you will need to get the dusker back up to level 5 since you lost all that heat unbinding it... Sorry, dude. :(

You needed to unequip your equipment before you can craft it. :c

Yeah that's a bummer mate,
Yeah that's a bummer mate, you wasted the CE. :[ You'll need to switch the gear you're wearing so the item you want to craft isn't equipped and it'll show up.
You have to take your item your trasmuting off your charcter, then transmute. THats what i think you ahve to do anywayz
