Please let us know well ahead of time when servers will be going down for upgrade. Me and a friend were at the jelly king about 3/4 through and servers went down.

There goes a lot of time, energy (bought with money)...

Thanks Three Rings...

They alerted us 30 minutes

They alerted us 30 minutes prior to the shut down, and then at 20, and then at 10, and then at 5, and then at 2.

30 minutes is not long enough

30 minutes is not long enough to clear the tier, though. I was at level 11 and got the 30 minute notice. If I had known the server would be going down (say when I log in I am informed that in 35 minutes the server is going down) I would have refrained from going down a gate and waited until afterwards.

Players are then forced to pick between powering through the rest of the tier quickly, or abandoning their progress and starting over from the tier entrance. In the case of jelly king, that means losing out on some jelly tokens for that night's allotment of energy.

Yeah

A longer notice would be nice.

I'm sure a "Scheduled Updates

I'm sure a "Scheduled Updates will be applied today at -timeframehere- please standby for a bit of server downtime while updates are applied"
is good enough

WoW has notifications on the

WoW has notifications on the login screen if the server is to be restarted that day. You can have a more detailed automated message once logged in.

Three Rings, what is wrong

Three Rings, what is wrong with just notifying players on the front page news about scheduled downtime? How come players would need to be notified in-game only?

A nice idea

This sounds promising. A Server Status / Schedule page on the website would be lovely. It's early days yet, but that would be most appreciated.

I am one of those players

I am one of those players that does not launch the game from the website, so I wouldn't see that schedule unless I got kicked off the server and wondered what happened...

Multiple types of warnings surely couldn't hurt. Maybe they ought to add to the current chat warning something about the consequences of still being logged in when the server goes down. I see a lot of people waiting until the last minute to log off.
