I am in the middle of making a balanced set but I'm wondering whether to get a GF or Acheron.

One the GF side I'd have curse, heavy knockback and easy control
But with the Acheron I'd have a higher DPS and three hits

I like the knockback with the heavy swords but i also like the high DPS so what should i get ppls of the internet?

I have both swords and I've

I have both swords and I've used them both on tons of JK runs and other runs in general. I used to think the Gran Faust was amazing until I made the switch to Acheron. The Gran Faust leaves you open after the second hit on slimes to the point where you should just constantly shield cancel your first hit, which doesn't really hit for much. With the acheron, you can hit twice and shield cancel before slimes get a chance to hit you.

Whenever I do serious JK runs, I take my Acheron over Gran Faust. It's also much easier to kill gremlins and the JK with an Acheron because it's easier to shield cancel on the JK and hit the dodging gremlins with it. Hopefully this helped. :)

I also own both swords and i

I also own both swords and i have to fully agree with what Exileddread said.

Still its all about preference; if you are a hard-core Avenger player; you will lean more towards the GF mechanic for being similar to the Avenger.
I've played most of my time in this game with the Brandishline; so i tend to lean towards the Acheron by nature...

It is still all about what matches your personal playstyle.

With careful timing and aim,

With careful timing and aim, you can get that second hit with the Gran Faust and won't need to shield cancel (unless it's a lumber, they'll hit you anyway despite the knockback), although i will say it's easier to fight JK with a three strike blade instead of a heavy sword. Acheron is easier to use but the Gran Faust just takes practice IMO.

No-Thanks
Zelda

i have both too, its pretty simple: granny for reg attack and acher for charge attacks

i duno what kinda balanced set ur makin but i vote for granny

fun fact i rarely end up using either of the 2 shadow swords cuz if im with swords loadout, then flourish charge pwns gremlins while glacius and DA are good enough for jellys, i sometimes switch to granny for wolvers but thats pretty much it

And thread number

And thread number 30,000,339,432,409 about this subject...

Your question should probably be: "Do I like 2 swing swords or 3 swing swords?" because the answer to that question will pretty much be the answer to your question. Well, with the side questions of "Do I like to use charge attacks?" and "Do I have curse protection?"

The answer will be if you prefer 2 swing heavy swords or 3 swing medium swords. Everybody will have their own opinion on this based on which they are better at. There is a much steeper learning curve for heavy swords but the payoff is pretty big once you are comfortable with them you can make consistent safe hits. If you are just going to run up to all enemies and punch out a full combo then the 3 swingers are going to be much more forgiving. I very rarely use a full combo with a heavy sword, though often deliberately swing away from the enemy with my first swing, then 180 to connect with only the strong 2nd swing. This usually sends the enemies back out of attack range giving you time to set up another hit.'

Do you like the DA or do you prefer Elemental Brandishes?

What is the rest of you loadout? and is it geared to complement heavy swords (ASI) or medium/fast swords (DMG+)?

So your loadout is pretty

So your loadout is pretty mostly geared for DMG+ which would benefit 3 swingers slightly more.

ASI = Med
Sword DMG Bonus = VH

You would get the most out bang out of GF/DA if you add a couple of Elite ASI trinkets or one Elite Trinket plus one more piece of Vog (for ASI Max). Two swingers are going to benefit from DMG too, its just that in terms of tweaking a swords DPS, 2 swingers will see more DPS improvement as well as better protection from ASI while 3 swingers will see better DPS out of DMG bonus. Basically for me to want to use DA/GF I favor Full Vog + Elite Quick Strike Module.

With your current loadout the cheapest path to optimized DPS would probably be to get the Acheron and an Elite Slash Module giving you Sword Damage Bonus Maximum pared with a quick blade (3 swinger + Med ASI). However, if you like your DA chances are you will like a GF. Unless you only like your DA because of the Charge attack in which case you may not be such a fan of the GF unless you get some curse protection.
