spiral knight should never have been on steam. Recently steam has become the most useless piece of beep! its make spiral knight unplayable half the time with the massive lag im getting, some time like a sec or so screen freeze and its not my connection im on 50m fiber optic the best you can get around here.

i tell you what it is ever time steam has a update or bring out a new game or added a update/patch for a game i own the entire think has to be restarted before i can play spiral knight if i don't i will be getting unplayable amount of lag this happen 2-3 times a day

why OOO did you use steam its useless!

all this lag and trouble im getting from steam i will no long be buying games of it. It frustrate me to no end. I will be going back to owning the cd's for the game i buy i think sod steam t hell and its constant update and lag to boot!

Yes i'm mad, why ant you?

What Dark Ritual?

>why OOO did you use steam its useless!<

On a side note, why did you decide to connect your SK account to Steam? OOO did nothing at all. It was YOUR choice to hook up SK to Steam, OOO didn't say: "If you don't hook up SK to Steam, we will ban you!" did they? Again, it was your choice to hook up SK to Steam, not OOO. Deal with it. If you want this fixed, make a new account non-steam connected.

Sorry if I sounded a little harsh, but it's the truth. :/

You clearly have not done your homework

I don't play SK through steam. I play it straight through the client. I am glad I never bound my account with Steam.

It's not 000's fault Steam is shoddy. That is Steam's fault. Learn to direct your anger appropriately. By the way you don't have to pay for SK.

I recall having problems with steam while playing MW2. When given the option to bind my SK account with Steam, I said "no thanks."

Go post this blarg on the Steam forums

@Lestatshadow

Steam doesn't suck, YOU suck. And as Bigfootm said above me, you didn't have to connect your account to steam. So yeah.

And there's a reason why people like steam. There are amazing and frequent sales, which makes it a much cheaper alternative than buying retail games. It's possible to not only save a good amount of money buying one game, but there are even sales where you can get 2 games for the price of one, and bundles where you can buy a lot of games for a great price. It's also a great way for gamers to communicate online.

Honestly, there's no reason to hate Steam. Hate a game or it's community for whatever reasons you have, but not the client used to play it. Not saying you should hate Spiral Knights but yeah you get the point.

Am I the only on on this

Am I the only on on this thread who doesn't have any problems with steam? it makes it easier to communicate and track friends than just individual games, and the best feeling ever is getting a $60 game for $2.50 when they have those crazy sales.

And you need to restart steam whenever you get a game update? That's a pretty weird issue, I only get lag problems when my laptop has been running for hours and hours or I've had SK on for a few hours as well.

No, steam sucks, especially

No, steam sucks, especially with this game. Seriously guys, what is wrong with you people blaming him for joining steam? It's not like anybody knew that joining steam would turn your game into a laggy pile of mush at the time. No. All we knew was that you get a nice shiny hat or something.

You people blaming the OP are pretty mean. The only thing he did wrong is that he should be yelling at valve and not OOO. Personally, I just hope one day we get an "unbind account from steam" option.

No, what I am saying is, if you are dissatisfied with playing SK through Steam, Then just play straight from Spiral Knights and cut Steam out of the equation.

You will have to re-roll your toon, but if you can't play at all now due to Steam lag, well ....

Also, Lestatshadow, any attempt at punctuation will increase the intelligibility of your valued posts.

You know.

" wow so much but hurt in this thread! "

....By posting this thread at all, aren't you admitting butt hurt?

Ontopic, I've run with several people who have Steam going. Most successful arena runs ever with those people. So obviously, Steam is not the issue.

And before you claim not butt-hurt, read your last line on the OP.

"Yes i'm mad, why ant you?"

I played Spiral Knights for a

I played Spiral Knights for a few days before linking it to Steam. Personally, I didn't experience increased lag. I did have a problem (as did others) authenticating my account after a certain Steam update, but I don't blame OOO for that.

I do wish it was possible for people to sever their accounts from Steam. I wouldn't use it, but it's clear that a lot of people regret linking their accounts, and it wouldn't hurt anyone.

If the game wasn't on Steam I can bet a lot of people playing wouldn't be playing now. Some of those people might have never heard of the game if it wasn't on Steam.

I can name well more than 10 that don't have any issues, so instead of proclaiming Steam trash because you are among the unfortunate few that do have issues with it, why don't you do the sensible thing, try and isolate the cause of the issue and work out a solution to it? It's phenomenal how many PC gamers these days are completely inept when dealing with computers and throw tantrums when things don't work properly, I have no idea how you would have coped playing PC games a decade ago.

On another note, if you're immediately reduced to insulting people the moment they level any criticism at you regardless of how harsh, that's generally a very good indicator that not only are you incredibly childish but perhaps more importantly don't have any logical reasoning to back up your thought process and must instead retort to attacking the opposition to direct attention away that from that. Now instead of throwing tantrums on the forum like every other self-entitled twelve year old on the internet, you may wish to consider actually trying to find a solution.

Most likely not steam I never

Most likely not steam I never get this, im on DSL. You do realise that games do not update while in game right? They pause when a game starts and start back up when you exit. Anyways if your still so sure that is what it is SHUT OFF AUTO UPDATE!!

Now the issue with the chopped down vertion of java and it only haveing a runtime environment of 256mb that I cant tweak is another issue and only effects the first 2 iron claw munitions factory levels.

and how do you shut down auto

and how do you shut down auto update?

Yes i know that I'm not talking about spiral knight updating im talking about a new game offer popping up or TF2 updating for the millionth time that day.

when ever i get lag in game you know what i do close spiral knight down and close steam, and then i open up steam again and waiting for me is a list of new game/offers coming out or an update and the bottom of the screen saying " one new game update has finished downloading" meaning its updating/downloading when im trying to play spiral knight.

The problem is i cant open up this update with out first restarting steam so if im half way thought a run im screwed.

i still don't get how this is not steam mess up my spiral knights game go figure.

Right click a game go to

Right click a game go to properties, updates, select do not update this game. You have to do it for each one of them.

To shut off the notifications go to the main window on the top left and click steam, settings, interface and at the bottom uncheck notifications.

Most likely your java runtime enviroment it is only 256mb after all. After alot of stuff going on in game or being logged in for hours at a time its running out of memory.

Lestashadow: What most people

Lestashadow:

What most people are trying to say is that the problem is likely on your end (your computer or your install of steam/SK). For example, myself, I need to restart every so often or I start getting repeated lag spikes- I think it's something to do with my Java, but I'm unsure.

You might try verifying the game cache: Right Click Spiral Knights > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache
This will look for corrupted or missing files. If it finds any, steam will DL fixed files for you.

As for shutting off autoupdate. You'll need to do that for each game individually.

Right Click A Game > Properties > Updates > Do not automatically keep this game up to date.
(By doing this, if you play a different game, and it has been updated, you'll have to wait for it to update before you are able to play it, when you do decide to play it.)

HOWEVER, mind that Steam usually doesn't download updates *Mid-Game.* It waits until *you are done* playing your current game before downloading updates, so that it doesn't lag you. Usually, anyway. Sometimes it glitches out.

Anyway, if the problem isn't on your end, this week had a major TF2 update, so all the steam servers are dying, more or less. Considering the past, this update bricked things (other than TF2) much less than it usually did, which was a nice surprise.

@Xmtwentyk and Tanbonthank

@Xmtwentyk and Tanbon
thank you guys you're the only people in this thread who have been of any help everyone els had been more than useless
thank again guys.

@Xmtwentyk im not sure about the java runtime i really don't have any problem with it normally only when steam decide it will tell me all about its offer i really don't care about.

but i will do what you suggested and see if that help at all.

@Buckdida it is all way downloading game mid game for me that is why im lagging i think im all way closing steam to find the message "one of your game as download and update successfully" at the bottom of the steam window mean it download when i was playing spiral knight and it dose this every time for me at least.

If you're not willing to post your specs, then I'm confirming this thread as a troll thread.

Honestly, you're just being a douche right now. If you posted your specs I could have helped you, but seeing as you're not willing to, enjoy your lag.

And that whole "No automatic updates" fix that the others have been saying? It's a complete lie. Because I've had that setting on ever since I started playing this game and I've been running it great with no problems at all. It's clearly your computer. Just admit it already.
