I can't see why everyone finds the Leviathan Blade to be the master race of all swords. Some people prefer it over the Cold Iron Vanquisher, and even the Fang of Vog. Let's debate.

Leviathan Blade:
- Normal damage
- Can knock enemies back with it's charge attack

Cold Iron Vanquisher
- Normal Damage
- Slightly less damage than the Leviathan Blade
- Can hit enemies 3 times with it's charge
- High Damage Bonus VS Undead
- Charge attack has little or no knockback

Fang of Vog:
- Normal/Elemental Damage
- Can hit enemies 3 or 4 times with it's charge
- Can ignite enemies easily
- Can ignite you
- Charge attack has slight knockback

In my opinion, the charge attack on the FoV and CIV outclass the Leviathan Blade's knockback. Hitting an enemy 3 times in quick succession can easily cancel an attack and that gives you enough time to get away from enemies. Not to mention the DPS of the FoV and CIV charge attacks are much better than the Leviathan Blade's charge attack.

Why is Fang of Vog even in

Why is Fang of Vog even in this discussion. It sucks. Glacius and Divine Avenger are superior for elemental swords.

And Leviathan definitely isn't master class for swords. It's a decent all around sword but anybody who carries around more than two swords isn't going to have it equipped.

Levi isn't bad

Leviathan Blade deserves some praise. Against knockback-resistant enemies (e.g. gun puppies) the charge attack can do massive damage, by hitting three times. The high knockback of the charge attack can be useful in defense. And so on. But it's true that I rarely use mine.

In Spiral Knights, the beginning-to-intermediate players form a distinct equipment subculture. They worship Vog Cub, Grey Owlite, Divine Avenger, and now Polaris. Many worship Leviathan. Many of them just do not understand damage. When we're fighting wolvers, and I'm using a piercing sword, they ask why I'm not using my Divine Avenger. Isn't it the best sword? Sigh.

(Disclaimers: Not all beginning-to-intermediate players fit this stereotype; however, I've met many who do. I'm not saying that the equipment they worship is bad; I own and use all of it.)

lol this is just a knockback

lol this is just a knockback vs nonknockback thread. Leviathan hits three times off of the charge attack too.

leviathan charge can hit

leviathan charge can hit enemies 3 times as well and is decent against any monsters.

FoV is very powerful sword that has elemental + normal damage with calubur charge style, it can inflict strong fire on enemies with his normal attack or charge . and the charge can hit enemies 4times .

@Zelaousd

Lol stop trolling, everyone knows that Heavy Swords are underpowered, and the only reason why anyone uses DA is for it's charge.

And Glacius can't outclass the Fang of Vog because FoV burns and Glacius freezes. Honestly you're just looking at the damage bars and assuming that they're better.

@Renpartycat Glacius DOES

@Renpartycat

Glacius DOES outclass the FoV, if you bothered to test their damages, you would know that all the elemental brandish line swords will out damage FoV by a substantial amount.

My Boltband(4*) in FSC does around 339 damage

while my FoV does around 249 damage

the FoV's charge is useful, but the brandish line swords are more practical cause they do MUCH more damage

"Lol stop trolling, everyone

"Lol stop trolling, everyone knows that Heavy Swords are underpowered, and the only reason why anyone uses DA is for it's charge."

And the charge is amazing and has incredible utility. Are you disputing that? And while the heavy jelly swords don't have better DPS to brandishes on a single target, they do have a wider damage arc so they'll hit more targets at a time and they have a knockback component on normal swings.

"And Glacius can't outclass the Fang of Vog because FoV burns and Glacius freezes."

And that proves... what exactly? That all you care about is damage? That you don't care about crowd control? Fine, then Combuster outclasses Fang of Vog. Fang of Vog is too slow, it doesn't really do substantially more damage than the comparable brandishes. And unless you're wearing substantial fire resist, its charge is just as bad as Gran Faust.

"Honestly you're just looking at the damage bars and assuming that they're better."

I'm not assuming anything. I learned my lesson about the stupid bars when I discovered what a piece of crap the Cold Iron Vanquisher was so long ago.

"i saw a guy with fang of vog simply annihilate the royal jelly."

Which is really all its good for.

There was a thread before

There was a thread before asking about Combuster vs Fang of Vog and I summed up the the pros and cons of each sword along with a conclusion. Credits go to one guy who I forgot (who came up with the most of the pros and cons), but I changed it a little bit since his summary is a bit out of date.
Anyway, here is my summary: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/22655#comment-131003

it all just depends on how

it all just depends on how you use it... [/thread]

also FoV sucks because it can damage yourself to, and combuster does a far better job then this...

i use both the CiV and Leviathan, i also have a gran faust (and soon a DA) and going for the brandish lines oh and the snarby sword

TL;DR

Yeah
I did that.
Now for a more appropriate answer
I have Levi and FoV
Botht the same EXCEPT

Knockback = Levi > FoV
Damage = FoV > Levi
Speed = Levi > FoV (Get an ASI or use Vog. There now you win)
Charge attack = Levi = FoV (Preference. If your're gonna spam the charge then use Levi. If not get FoV)
Charge hits: Levi = 3 hits if all connect
-------------- FoV = 4 hits if all connect (the hits plus the fire it will cause to the enemy)

Im in Skolver and got a 5* Soaking Wetstone fire resist Trinket. It shaved off 1-2 seconds of fire damage when and IF i use the charge. Even without I get set on fire only HALF the time i use the charge. The other time i come out unscathed.

If you cant decide, then use both. I did and chose FoV since i have my Wild Hunting Blade which actually (due to partially its UVs and how I use it) Does more Damage per second than my Leviathan.

Levi with a UV vs Undead High = Better than CIV.
Also Levi does about 10 damage more to all enemies except undead. Would you want 10 * 5 damage? or only 20 damage on one specific enemy that you will only really see in FSC and

FoV is good If you know how to use it and dont have a Brandish. I got Levi first. Then won an FoV from Vanaduke. Now I dont need a Glacius or Combuster because I'm doing only 50 dmg less on something I can compensate in my guns for FSC cus I use Polaris and Blitz in FSC anyway.

Back on topic

FoV = Good elemental but underused due to other swords with slightly better DPS and not setting you on fire. But thats because we all charge spam with every weapon.
CIV= Good against undead.
Levi = Basically a CIV without a mini boost on undead, and instead that boost is ditributed to every monster class. Plus knockback is better
Brandish Swords= and FoV without chance of fire on yourself and higher damage per second.

I gtg now.
