I was wondering, is skolver the best as far as piercing defense is concerned. Or would something like royal jelly armor give better defense?

personally, im going for the

personally, im going for the skolver for peircing because of the dmg bonus. royal jelly is okay, except it has no bonus, but i does have defense against stun and sleep(sleep is practically useless...). there is also the chroma suit which u might want to consider. a great shield for all of these is the BTS, since it also has a dmg bonus, but whatever u do, do NOT get cobalt. it totally sucks.

I already have the barble

I already have the barble thorn shield and the damage bonuses on the skolver are nice... but I was wondering which set has the greatest piercing defense. Like is there any trade off to getting skolver and barble thorn as opposed to other sets.

status, offense

Well, you can't trust the stat bars, and it's hard to run precise experiments on this sort of thing. If I were you, I'd look at all the 5-star armor with piercing, and assume that the damage protections are pretty similar, and choose based on status protections and offensive bonuses.

As you go deeper into the Clockworks, monster damage increases much faster than your armor improves. Armor doesn't do much in Stratum 6. Hence the conventional wisdom is that you should use armor as an opportunity to improve your offense.

Practically the same

For piercing defense all the 5* armors are going to provide about the same defense. The damage from most piercing attacks in T3 is going to differ by 0-1/2 pip between sets. The important thing is that both your armor and helm protect piercing if that damage type is a concern.

This is true across the board with armors except for Ancient Plate Set, which has an insane amount of Normal defense. When hit with a pure normal attack it'll absorb almost all of it. But it has no resistance to piercing, shadow or elemental so you'll take the full blow from those damage types.

i think

I honestly use skolver for everything even vana runs regaurdless of the 0 ele def.. But Tbigsby think about it if u really need tht pierce def cause to me its honestly useless because i honestly rarely encounter wolvers which do piercing and on jelly runs if u play it smart u rarely get hit by jellys its the turrets and lumbars tht f u up.. think about if u really pierce cause i suggest to u what i tell all my friends and what i wish i did.. get full vog with barbar thorn and 2 sword attack dmg bonus trinks.. i think tht is the master loadout im working on it right now but yes plz do think about it cuz i dont want u to regret getting skolver... the loadout i stated above btw gives max sword dmg bonus and v high attack speed and if u try hard u can find a sword with med attack speed for max on both which is spectacular on everything plus the ele def helps u out a ton... plz think about this

Nice point Ninjapikachu I

Nice point Ninjapikachu I never thought of that before. That's a great loadout for when I go only swords. I guess the only draw back is that I dont get to carry 4 swords at once but o well ;P

If I want I guess I could also do the same with skolver with barbarous thorn shield.

Although sometimes I want to use other weapons in my arsenal too so I'll have to craft other sets for that too. (ones with better status resists).

Ya I dont usually have a problem with pierce but its still nice to be able to face off with a swarm of jellies without kitting or being worried about getting surrounded. And ya polyps can get annoying.
