So I am planning to make a Volcanic Plate Shield ("VPS") because I already have a shield for each of the other defenses.
Also, I hear great things about its use for Vana fights.
Currently, I'm crafting plate shields on a mule to get a decent UV, but have only got pierce low... yay!
The question is, should I just make the VPS without a UV, and then roll on the UV later down the road?
Or is the VPS only okay for T3 use when it has a decent uv (shadow, elemental, normal med+)?
I was thinking elemental med+ would be ideal, any thoughts for or against this?
How awful is the boosted plate shield (4*) in general FSC use? Should I just heat it when doing other runs?

What defensive hole is this shield filling? It is just a normal shield, most shields have normal defense. It has "more" normal defense, but that equates to just one extra attack from Vana/trojans.
Since you aren't desperate for a shield, I'd just wait until the mule crafts something decent. Since this is an "FSC" shield elemental would be a good addition to help on Vana's mask phases. Could get shadow for zombies, but I think Elemental is more useful.
Unless someone is awesome at dodging, I don't really recommend taking a Boosted Plate Shield into FSC. Anything below 5* is going to break fast.
