Good side-arm for Calibur/Leviathan Blade line?

I've read the wiki and I'm still undecided for a good sidearm, by which I mean a weapon that can be used to maximize the Calibur's use or to finish off
monsters from a distance without any huge downsides.
As such, I'm not inclined toward specific-damage dealing types of weapons, and would prefer a normal damage one, as I will use it more for PvE than
PvP.
Some weapons I've chosen so far:
Bombs: Electron/Gravitron Vortex, Shivermist Buster, Stagger Storm lines
Guns: Neutralizer, Valiance, Supernova

Are these good choices? Other than their being normal damage types, of course.

shiver or supernova(go

shiver or supernova(go polaris) will fit calibur best, supernova wont be that bad but polaris will be better even if not normal

You can't be serious about the 2-weapon setup...

...if turrets are the only thing you need take out from a distance, Polaris is best. 2 types of turrets are weak, 1 is neutral. For everything else there's Leviathan.

If you have more than that, you can consider Shivermist for the third slot, and a Vortex or pierce sword for the fourth.

I think the cool side blade

I think the cool side blade matches the calibur best.

If I was running a very general set for solo with only 2 slots, I would use the Levi + polaris.
Generally, most mobs that elemental damage does poorly against are also hard to gun instinctively (beasts and gremlins), which means you will use your sword. While constructs are the most frequently gunned, and elemental damage does well against them. Also, there are no turrets that are beasts or gremlin yet, so all turrents can be gunned down with elemental weapons.

For instance, knock back some mobs with your levi charge, switch to your polaris right away and fire shots in the direction you knock backed a mob.If you knocked them into a wall, all three expanded shots will hold them against the wall for you to unload another clip. Easy cakes.

If you are in a group though, you could potentially be the most annoying party member. Poorly placed polaris shots can annoy others due to their knockback, and levi charges are even worse offenders, so do be careful.

Personally, I'm a gunner and swordy (I only have a shivermist), so I couldn't imagine using a bomb + sword. Since i'm a little bias, perhaps wait for someone's view of levi + bomb.

I vote against shiver since it keeps mobs spread out and you can't capitalize on the levi charge that way. An electron vortex is very useful for pulling mobs into one place for you to charge attack. I'm not sure how well that combo would work when solo unless you have a good calibur ctr. In a group it would definitely be useful for others to attack a cluster of mobs.

Other guns:
I have a biohazard and could not imagine using the neulizer as a gun paired with the levi. it's too slow and offers no synergy through knockbacks or high damage.
The only time I'd run around with a levi + valiance is if I was doing it for fun to annoy some friends....

Hmm...

I think Freeze is great to land 3-hit Levi charge on any enemy that's not immune to freeze anywhere on the screen. Freeze lasts long enough to charge a normal Levi. I'm not sure if there's enough time to Levi charge into your own vortex without CTR UV's though...

I would not have sword+bomb with 2 slots, since the turret problem is more important than bombing a crowd, IMO. Anyway, by the time OP has 4* items or even before, I'm sure that keeping one weapon slot upgrade a month isn't so hard on the wallet anymore.

wallet? it's only 9k in

wallet? it's only 9k in crowns at current prices.
150 CE + 100 mist to buy a weapon slot (assuming you have extra mist, or a mule)

But I agree, bomb is useful, but not at the expense of a gun for long distance damage.

I Would Prefer Valiance

I would prefer Valiance because it has great speed, normal damage, knock back from its charge attack, and looks good with the Leviathan. I prefer the speed and normal speed type of this gun. I fell in love with my Proto Guns type and because the Valiance is the only five star gun of that speed I prefer it. Now i am not trying to say Valiance is the best Gun and you should not get any other gun ,but I am stating my opinion about it!
