freeze bomb support - gun (/sword)?

Hi!

I think I'm going to play mostly support and I like the freezing bombs.

Can't decide which gun to take. Maybe Antigua for its fast speed, to compensate for the general slow speed of "bombers" & maybe attack healing MOBs? Or go with the voltec alchemer line to try & disrupt enemies from hitting party members?

Also, I wonder if the slow stunning swords (Troika line) might fit well... to avoid getting surrounded (knockback) or something... and to slow down the enemy further.

Thanks for your suggestions!

If you're going to play

If you're going to play support, you're much better off going with all bombs.
Maybe a gun to keep away monsters, or a sword that has a good status effect.
But bombs are proven to have the best Crowd Control.

I would recommend:

  1. Normal Damage weapon for all around coverage/damage. Destroyers, Deconstructors, Nitronomes and the Iron Slug are all good choices. These are for your safety when things get a bit frantic. A 3-hit sword like the Leviathan Blade or Cold Iron Vanquisher wouldn't be a bad choice either. It's your call.
  2. Your Freezing Vaporizer. Interchange it with a Toxic Vaporizer when you need it. Both are worth the time to acquire, but you rarely need both at once. They're excellent support weapons, probably the best in the game.
  3. For Shadow Damage, a Gran Faust or a Graviton Vortex. If you're using the Freezing Vaporizer, get the Gran Faust, if you're using the Toxic Vaporizer, use the Graviton Vortex. Since Freeze is CC, you don't need that and the Graviton Vortex, so you can go for pure damage with the Gran Faust.
  4. For Piercing, get an Ionized Salt Bomb.

For armour:

Defensive Support (Toxic Vaporizer and Graviton Bomb):
Volcanic Demo Helm
Volcanic Demo Suit
Heater Shield/Grey Owlite Shield

Offensive Support (Freezing Vaporizer and Gran Faust):
Vog Cub Cap/Mad Bomber Cap
Mad Bomber Suit
Heater Shield/Grey Owlite Shield

There.

Thanks sounds good! Having a

Thanks sounds good!

Having a little trouble deciding on an "upgrade path" though (just starting, I'm far away from the equipment on your list and I don't think I can dive right into all the "equipment paths" that I'm going to need at once. ATM, I feel mostly "dressed4fail" - stoopid ice dungeons everywhere & fast MOBs).

Is bombin getting easier as levels are getting harder? ATM most of the other ppl seem to be just pushing / knocking enemies that are crowded around bombs away in random directions, loosing lots of hp & leaving me almost no chance to place bombs in a good place unless it's REALLY obvious we're getting overwhelmed and can't do anything else but fall back. So ATM I feel like I need to fall back to a fast gun of some sort for most of the time, unless I want to idle around behind the group (or participate in the "random MOB-knock-around-party", possibly hampering the others even more). Just I'm not sure which one I should choose... are there good guns that I can use to keep the others from getting hit so often? With knockback, shock or something?

For the most part, if your

For the most part, if your team is rushing up to monsters and getting hit, you can't support them by doing anything positive.

But yes, bombs do get easier to use as you go deeper, because higher level bombs get larger radii as you upgrade them. This makes it incredibly easy, even with a team of spam clicking tards, to hit monsters with bombs.

So having a gun there isn't entirely necessary, unless you're soloing or in a smaller than normal group.

Freezing bomb is more useful

Freezing bomb is more useful for soloing most of the time. It can be useful in a group....but if you have more than two people, chances are they will rush in and slash everything and ruing the effect of freeze. I would still recommend leveling the freezing bomb up though for any solo attempts or just a small group that will properly corporate with you.

Everything else said in this conversation is perfect advice though. Bombs make for the best support and far more over guns.

why: " Defensive Support

why:

Defensive Support (Toxic Vaporizer and Graviton Bomb):
Volcanic Demo Helm
Volcanic Demo Suit
Heater Shield/Grey Owlite Shield

Offensive Support (Freezing Vaporizer and Gran Faust):
Vog Cub Cap/Mad Bomber Cap
Mad Bomber Suit

and not the other way around:
Bomber Cap
Vog Cub Coat?

in wiki it seems they have the same stats but you dont loose all the res?
