Apparently, neither of them are going to do any more shadow runs.
In Biznasty's words: "It's really far, far too expensive and the armor sets just aren't worth it. Crown/heat isn't much better."
Seriosuly OOO? Even your most elite players who have actually dedicated themselves to do one run think that it isn't worth it. Do you actually think the rest of Spiral Population is going to do these?

Yup, this new stuff is really only for costume.
And IMO, it's really only the Snarby set. Once most players et that, they won't bother spending time on shadow lair runs, sadly.

@biznasty - do you guys have any tips on Shadow lair.
From what I heard there was a part where you guys had to run, and I heard that there are now lumbers with axes, gremlins with shadow blades, etc.
One important question I would like to ask, I have heard that all members of your run have got the required materials to craft the gear.
Do they drop as materials (Like Eg. Sun silver, once picked up a random party member gets the material) or do they drop like tokens (When you pick it up every party member gets 1x the material). If so, how do they drop and where do they drop, from the boss you defeat or from the treasure boxes at the end?
And if I was to go with in a party of 4 with very skilled players, excluding the key, to be honest how much of CE do you think we'll have to spend each on revive in the whole journey?

In the Sanctuary, the end of a successful run, there is a material on a pedestal that when picked up rewards the entire group (though there are problems if you pick it up prior to everyone loading in, hopefully a GM will resolve this issue for us).

None if you are skilled enough, as long as you take the time to talk to someone with experience with the encounters, or you can adapt very well on the fly. I had experience with UGW so it was a smooth ride for me, absolutely no deaths and only had to use pills during the boss fight because I derp'd, but when I hit the Unknown Passage where I was flying blind... I got mauled. You really want to know what you're facing encounter-wise or you're going to be spending CE and/or your teammates are going to have to struggle to carry you.

If they were (hypothetical) 6* gear and quarantined off in (a hypothetical) T4 lockdown, then yes, giving them epic stats would be appropriate.

Hey I saw Magnus in haven with his new Snarby set, I asked him if it was worth it. He said the stats are crap, but it looks great. He was actually checking out the Dark Harvest masks somebody was showing off. The funny thing is I just finished a day of gathering candies from the Punkin King, and it was so much fun doing that! Everybody I was playing with was having fun. Made me feel like a kid trick-or-treating again! So in the end this little Halloween event thing which is available to all easily is such a stark contrast to the rage and frustration surrounding the Shadow Lairs. I think that says a lot, LOL.

The reason we ran the new content is pretty much what Juances said here. If you're going to criticize something, you need to at least KNOW how it works. I'm not going to be saying "BOOHOO SCREW THIS UPDATE SHADOW KEYS ARE SO EXPENSIVE" then go "BOO HOO... oh wait you can actually make enough money to pay for the keys when running the lairs? well crap I'm stupid". (although sadly that is not the case, unless keys get very, very cheap)
We're not even paying actual money for this ourselves. Although we split costs on the first key (180ce each player), the second one was funded entirely by Malchezzar and he was nice enough to just take us with him. Granted, it wasn't necessary to craft the armor, but we like getting FIRSTs. We're guilty.
My main issue with the levels isn't even the price to access them; It's how, due to their lack of crown rewards, there is no replay value. You can't just farm the lairs like you'd do with FSC, RJP. Basically, you do two trips to every dungeon (or four trips to UFSC/URJP), craft everything, then you never touch the place again. That's really about it. It disappoints us greatly after we've been waiting for something new, more challenging to grind on for over nine months now, and Shadow Lairs could have been a great place since they're so challenging.
About the armors: I was disappointed that they just lacked variety in their special bonuses (such as sword damage bonus - like Renpartycat said, I think it'd be more interesting if it was CTR? wouldn't really be the best option, but it'd help with variety) and were mainly normal armors with different defense types or status resistances.

This is what happens when gear pieces aren't polished or balanced and they are rushed like ALL of the level content, the bosses, the silly shadow key system and even the changes to T2 JK. BTW, Mercurial Demo pieces being far stronger than anything in SK existance atm has nothing to do with bombs and everything to do with movespeed...a crucial stat that cannot be obtained anywhere else.

The Snarby suit is sub-par to Skolver in terms of Freeze resistance. This is pretty lame coming from a only the best of the best reward...
I know it has poison also, but I really don't think this makes up for having less freeze resistance then Skolver, as imo poison is the easiest status to deal with (still mobile, still can fight/charge even if at reduced damage, if you avoid further hits you don't take DOT).
The Heavenly Iron's stats look halfway decent (at least if you are a generalist) Global Med Damage & Fiend Med, just don't get shocked...

Rewards ain't worth,except maybe for the mercurial demo set, but I actually don't play bombs. An update I'll ignore, like the accessory one.

I was expecting some good shadow/pierce/elem armor or weapons, but it's armor; whatever. But pierce/elem/shadow + normal with pitiful UVs? Did people really spend hundreds on THAT?
EDIT: Also considering that I'd have to buy, craft, and level up armor sets to get them; too much of a hassle for too little reward. And what about gunslingers? It seems like the devs HATE them, as many have stated. From something purely vanity (no gunslinger forum avatars) to something like this, no "elite" gunslinger armor? What did they ever do to the devs?

I am curious though, have your Snarby Sets have been levelled to 10? Does the Wiki Page just speculate what the heat level stats are?
Starting stats are one thing, but if the equipment behaves differently than other equipment when levelled.. maybe these things aren't as bad as everyone thinks they are, maybe when fully heated they turn out to be ridiculously good.

He is the nicest person you wil ever meet I'm his friend in game and on steam (yet he boycotted steam addition) he a quiet person I can never get him to talk or even stay interested in a subjets. Was in a group chat through steam with a bunch of spiral knights friends IE Cobalt Anly Misonguyen Magnus and Artifice. Was the funniest chat I've been in though Magnus was quite quiet cobalt was just going at it he even yell into his mic. That enough said about are personal chat (you wish you could here that chat) Biznasty is a very proper person intact he very formal when it comes to spiral knight did a FSC with him he was in rock jelly armor it was amazing how little he died, my only run with people with guild besides Artifice who is a long time friend. In magnus' defense leave him alone he was banned from the forums for explaining how to effectively gain ce and OOO considered it an exploit. Over all stop ranting on my friends and magnus' saying is people cause drama instead of solving the problem. Which he tries hard to do so if he was allowed on the forums he would back me.
