Hello,
I was wondering which of the two sets I should get.
I mainly use the Vile Striker but I see a lot of people with the DA so I'm not sure if I should get that also...
But I'm really not sure which way to go with the armor. I don't plan on doing FSC much but I might need Elemental more than Piercing Defense
Help?
Vog vs. Skolver
Now you got the snarb to choose from aswell..... ahhhhhhhh... the choice :P
Seriously tho, this wuestion raised soooo many times in past ;)
but snarby clothes are RIDICULOUS to get and you need 5* just to have a CHANCE to survive, so you need vog or skolver, the snarby if you want.
@Sypsy - Thank you for your help.
Yes, I did see 2 more topics on this, however I did kind of want to let people know of my own personal gameplay style.
I wasn't really planning on FSC because people have told me it's a waste of time because the drops aren't great
So with that in mind I wasn't planning to do it all except for maybe once
Yes, I have considered mixing. I wasn't sure which shields and trinkets would complement that when I mixed them though.
Well, FSC actually is a great place for crowns and heat...
So I'm not sure where you heard that information.
It may not be as good as 4 arenas post terminal at T3, but it's better than a normal run.
Also, it's different from other levels, so if you got bored down the road, you may run it. I personally played months and months without doing fsc, but now it's enjoyable because of the challenge relative to other levels. If this were to happen, it'd be nice to have a Vog set ready to help you out.
But besides this, and even if you were to never step into fsc, the elemental armor would help. Maybe even hybrid.
For trinkets, this wouldn't be too hard.
Let's assume you only are considering sword trinkets.
If you had two skolver, you could get 2 +med Sword ASi trinkets.
Two Vog, 2 + dmg trinkets.
Hybrid, 1 of each.
Each scenario gives you vhigh dmg & vhigh asi for swords, it's just the defences that change around.
If you wanted a CTR trinket, then you would have to choose, did you want damage or speed?
For shields, it depends more on the upcoming stratum.
JK, beast themes and jelly themes, equip a barbarous thorn shield
Construct, something with elemental, such as the grey owl shield.
The shield decision is usually unrelated to what armor pieces you have equipped, so vog, skolver, hybrid shouldn't affect that.
Thank you for all your help Sypsy
And about the FSC Info I'm quite sure I saw it posted somewhere around the forum in General Discussion
But another friend did tell me in-game
Told me to just stick to running arenas in T3 when I got there
Thanks for the hep again ^^
I was considering getting both if I could get the money because Piercing would definitely help in JK
And both shields
But...that would cost...a ton of money....
I like having both for balanced defenses. Though I have shadow max on my Skolver coat and shadow high on my Vog cap so my Shadow, Elemental, and Piercing defenses are all pretty much equal at about 1/3 the bar. It's really up to you though, and also whether you want to get Krogmo trinkets as well.
i thought these threads died out a while ago, lol xD guess not :l
vog is better for FSC/slow swords, and looking kinda cool :D
skolver is better for jk/Fast sword, and looking divine :D
I was going to just say "use the search function," but your post was too kind, so I'll be more helpful than that.
1) This has been asked and answered many times in the forums previously.

2) The wiki has a good discussion on this matter

3) As you get later into the game, pierce defense becomes less relevant. Spikes/thorns are avoidable, alpha wolvers need to be dodged regardless, and slimes can be danced around proficiently. The only thing may be in an arena where 12 Polyp's are shooting at you at the same time.... But if that happened, it's usually poor wave management on the party.
On the other hand, elemental damage by constructs are a bigger pain. So you are correct that you would need elemental more than piercing.
Also, even though you may not be doing fsc in the near future, you may get there soon, as it is surprisingly fun. The vog definitely helps when you are learning how to do fsc due to the fire resistance.
4) Have you considered mixing? I personally had Skolver helm / Vog coat initially to be more "all round". I also wanted the damage from the skolver piece.
