First, there needs to be some armor/shields/weapons that Allow you to gain extra heat/crowns/materials, or maybe make it a UV, possible like, Slime drop increase low- If you kill a slime type monster with that weapon you get slightly more crowns and a slightly better chance at getting a material from it. What do you think?

Next, is that I think that you should be able to test out unbound weapons that you say, got out of a box, in the training room, without binding it to your character, so you can see if you want to keep the weapon or armor, or sell it.

The last one is a new weapon, a one hit melee weapon, with a slow attack speed, no charge, high knock back, small hit radius, and [amazingly] high strength. Maybe a hammer or an axe?

I'm not sure about something

I'm not sure about something to increase drops. Well, mats and heat probably wouldn't matter too much since they don't have THAT much value as it is, but more crowns is tricky because it potentially impacts on the cost of CE. Besides, give people a weapon or UV that gives them more crowns and virtually everyone will just go for that.

I believe the training test thing has been suggested (though more generalised in letting you test any weapon) and I'd love to be able to do that instead of putting down a lot of crowns and energy in the hope I'll be comfortable using something. Though I suppose the fact the current system makes people pay to test weapons means it's more profitable to not implement it.

Any equipment that increases

Any equipment that increases drops is going to cause problems. Increased Crown drops are right out; it'd wreak havoc on the already inflation-raddled economy. Also, remember that materials are randomly distributed between party members, making such gear significantly less attractive for non-solo players. I just don't see it happening.

The ability to test weapons before binding them is pretty good, but I wonder how Three Rings would see it in regards to the unbind smith; I imagine he's there mostly so players have to spend a lot of EN to rid themselves of unwanted gear, and being able to test stuff ahead of time would hurt sales there. As a player, I'm all for it, but the devs might take a slightly dimmer view.

I would never, ever use the described weapon; too inflexible. I'm just one guy, though.

Test before binding may look

Test before binding may look good but it's actually useless since most weapons have the same attack patterns, thus getting a 0-1 stars equivalent is a viable option (there may be exceptions like flourish line).
The only part that isn't covered at all by weak gear are bombs(vortex,shards.vaporizers)-> I'd make weak variants of those.

This plan saves developers from creating the new system you propose and is already cheap for players.

A test server only dedicated

A test server only dedicated to try weapons? C'mon, paying 150cr for a cheap weapon is easier and simple.

Plus, the test server setup

Plus, the test server setup exists as an incentive for players to pay money for CE; Three Rings aren't going to give away content previews that they can use as a cash lure.
