Is crafting gear with CE earned using Crowns worth it?

I don't have a way to get Crystal Energy with cash. I'm unsure if I'll use Crowns to buy CE in the Market for the purpose of crafting and upgrading equipment since there's always the Auction House. Is grinding for Cr, hunting for materials and buying the recipe good as opposed to just getting the Cr and getting them from the Auction House?

Another question, can players use Mist Energy instead of Crystal Energy for crafting? (i.e. Recipes that require 50 Energy to create, such as the Autogun, and using all your reserve ME before eating up your CE for 100 Energy and above recipes)

I think so. It can set you

I think so. It can set you back thousands of Cr's when you craft equipments instead of purchasing them from AH or any other shops. It takes patience, but in the end it's worth it.

And yes, ME's are always used first for crafting. CE's are used only when you've run out of ME.

That's the pretty much the point of the game...

You can buy 2* stuff at the AH for about 1-2k CR, which might be better to buy than craft, then you should/have to buy recipes to get better stuff. It just gets too expensive at 4* and 5* to buy weapons, armor, and shields. Don't use your CE to craft stuff that's 2* or lower, because you can just craft that with your ME. I also recommend that if you want to craft something, make sure you have a full mist tank so you can save 6k.

Another option if you buy the

Another option if you buy the recipes of lower star gear is if you have some mist energy left over you can always craft again and sell on the AH, if you get a UV you can make some extra cash but as long as you get more than what you buy the materials for you will be converting your mist energy (which refills) into crowns. As you want to get into 4* items it's much cheaper to buy the recipe and upgrade yourself due to unbinding costs. For someone to sell you their 5* gear you have to pay 4000ce just to unbind it.

In my opinion, you should buy

In my opinion, you should buy 3* things. 200 energies is about 12k, and adding in recipe and material cost (not to mention the cost of buying or making a 2* [if applicable] to be used with the recipe), it's not worth it to craft. I regularly see 3* items for 15k or less, so if you're patient and check the auction a couple of times a day, you can usually save some coins that way. 4* and 5* though, definitely better to craft yourself.

Craft it.

For 2* items, crafting only costs mist. Use that.
For 3* items, crafting takes 100 of each. The items typically sell for 12-15K, which means that you're overpaying if you buy due to not using mist.
For 4* items, buying them will cost you a ton more energy or crowns than if you craft them, due to unbinding.
For 5* items, buying them is just ridiculous. 4000 to unbind. 5.5K for a DA. I'm selling one if you have it.

many threads have been put up

many threads have been put up about this.
and generally speaking, it is best to buy the 3* items straight off, rather than making them yourself.

but it's a good idea to learn 1 good 2* recipe, so you can use your mist energy on those days you don't have time to play.
