i was also soloing him just before patch, with my silent nightblade. i think this could be pretty cool. i was just checking, as i thought i might have misinterpreted it.

If they have the same resisatcnes as slime, then fov is no longer that useful :P perhaps that's the reason? still can be done I bet

*shrug* it's not like it's going to be more resistances. elemental should actually be uneffected. it's going from neutral to neutral.
I just solo'd the new JK a few minutes before the patch. He was a little trickier than normal as I'm not used to the new routine and you can't get that close to him any more. On the upside, guns work a bit better (Magma Driver sets him nicely on fire) on him and I'll be keen to try him on Faust before long and see if he is indeed weak to shadow now...
