Personally, I'm not liking the new style of the dropped crowns. They appear flat and static, without any kind of sheen that makes them eye-catching. They were just fine they way they were, having a luster and rotating they way they did.
New Crown Appearance
My mistake, just had graphics setting to "Low." Didn't know that would now affect things like that.
I'm playing at Low because my GT 430 can't handle High.
And because its impossible to play FSC at High - the whole screen is BRIGHT RED!!! Hurts my eyes.
And I don't like the new sprite crowns, I like the 3d ones better. I don't see how it affected my FPS, though, its not like there are 1000s of coins around all the time when I have low performance problem. Actually, they're never around when Vana's on a rampage, hits the ground and debris stars falling (only time when my performance drops below 20 frames per second, haven't been in shadow lair yet).
Sprites are 2D entities (little more then a texture really) that take very little processing power to render. Since a coin's typical life span on screen is under 15 seconds, and its animation isn't critical to gameplay, its an easy target cut back. And for anyone wondering, it can show up on high settings due to the new LOD/Distance scaling if the object is further out.
@Round: if FSC is too bright, you may want to consider scaling back the gamma settings. Or build an SLI profile low a reduced gamma/brightness setting.
.....? Are you playing on low settings?
