this as got to be the worst ever ive seen update shadow keys to buy are like 300-500k cr i have opened 10 boxes and found none i will not try anymore, they should put ce prices on the doors for enterence or crowns (reasonable) i wont buy any shadow keys at this prices
prices of shadow keys
that is poor % so i wont bother anymore this new update as made my mind up not to buy anymore ce with $ as this is the worst they have ever done since ive been playing its greedy in my eyes
It seems to me that you're forgetting to subtract the value of the accessories that appear in lockboxes that do not have keys. Based on your odds, that would be 32 accessories. I'm sure most will be of little value, but by opening that many boxes would give you a decent shot at a very valuable accessory. I'm sure this wont change the fact that keys are too expensive for most players, but if we're trying to accurately value the keys accessories should be included.
Hanktron is correct that I have not accounted for the revenue from selling the accessories. I also have not accounted for the cost of buying the Lockboxes (assuming that you don't have 33 of them sitting around...?!).
It was calculated and ended up being 7500 ce for a single key supposedly someone correct me if i didnt read the calculation thread correctly
Even if you give it good odds: let's say 5%, so 1 in 20; and let's say the average value of accessories allows you to recover 375ce (50%) worth, and that lockboxes are a negligible cost:
19 boxes at 375ce + 750 for the final box that gives you the key = 7875ce
Divide this among 4 players, and you get just under 2000ce per player.
Even with these best assumptions estimate and going with best rate (400ce/USD), that means on average, a shadow lair run costs almost $5 USD. And each time you play a shadow lair, you need to cough up that amount.
Perhaps OOO was just a little unreasonable with the pricing. At this sort of rate, I doubt more than 10% of the playerbase will ever get to experience the new content (before the heat death of the universe, to quote another poster). I have to wonder if this is what the devs wanted: to create a shiny new update that only a small percentage of players will ever see in the game's lifetime. Of course, this may well be their intention, and it is of course entirely their choice what they want to do with their content. Large MMORPGs often do have content that the majority of their playerbase don't get to see or experience regularly. I just feel it may be premature for SK to be pulling the same thing.
This has been discussed extensively. The best current estimate of the rate of Shadow Keys in Iron Lockboxes is something like 3%. So you have to try about 33 times, for a total cost of about 25000 energy. That's about $62, buying in lots of $50.
Unless you are wealthy (or addicted --- gulp), you should not be trying to play Shadow Lairs.
