And why isn't there a way to subscribe to threads? It's so hard to find what has gotten replies that I actually posted in, and why is there no quote button?
Why don't the forums have a report button?!
Because http://drupal.org/
So if anyone wants to pitch themselves as forum developer/admin, I'm sure OOO would consider it.
So why don't they use vbulletin like everyone else?
https://www.vbulletin.com/order/ <-- costs money
http://drupal.org/download <--- Doesn't cost money
Isn't three rings making enough? What about sega? and besides, there's GOT to be something better than this.
Making money and being profitable aren't directly synonymous. The size of the development team, the development platform, the server setup, lack of marketing and distribution all scream small budget. The game itself was probably a gamble for Sega to help fund and publish, but seeing as its less then a year old with continuing development costs, its hard to tell to if they managed to recoup the initial investment costs yet.
Since the forum serves its function well enough, and still within a scale the GMs can manage manually, theres no reason to take a huge risk by sinking money into licensing new forums software, paying someone to customize, deploy, and maintain it, just to add 2 functions that the 10% of the playerbase will rarely use, and won't give equal return on investment. We just aren't at a point where we need that level of automation.... would it be nice? Of course, but we are doing well so far.
Besides, they obviously have someone whose smart enough to overhaul the forum UI, so the changes are still possible down the line. And again, if you know what your doing, pitch yourself as a forum developer...it can only make the process go faster.
This forum is BARELY better than gamefaqs. And that's saying a lot.
Because the amount of garbage / spam / trolling / flaming in the forum is growing and growing and growing and growing and OMG IT IS GROWING I wanted to bump a suggestion thread about the forum needing a report function that I created a long time ago. I couldn't find it though. Because there's too much spam. And no way to find (your own /) old threads. And the search function is more like a "show me some random threads"-function.
So I'm bumping this.
OMG teh forums!
It's just... seriously, if I'd have seen this, before I started playing SK, I wouldn't have bothered giving it a try.
It's pretty stagnant actuualy Ufana. Massive, but stagnant.
The search bar is flat-out bugged. You have to hit it a kabillion times for it to start loading O_O.
+1, but this isn't really in OOO's hands. That being said, my freind made a blog where this worked when they were 10...
you wouldn't play SK because of the forum? WEIRD! I won't use furniture because of the house I live in!

If we can prove to OOO that the forum is a good investment to put money into, then I'm sure they will set these features in, HOWEVER.
As it stands, the forum is relatively new, and they do seem to be adding things*. I would suggest, keeping discussion here alive, Mods do check in even if they don't post, and maybe you'll see such features in the future.
THANK YOU. Every forum must have these key features. I see it everywhere. Also, why is there no view count on the thread? I remember the days before the forum update. They had a view count but it never worked. How come they couldn't get that working?
