As a graduate with a degree in International Business (with econ, marketing, management minors), I am curious as to what is the MISSION STATEMENT of three rings as a company? I certainly understand the importance of a single, overarching, unifying goal and how it (should) be adhered to in every aspect of a company's operations. Thus I would be very interested in knowing what that "mission" is for OOO.

Also, what are the stated core values?

If this is in some way confidential information and not to be shared with the masses, i'll understand. But if its not, I'd love to know. Its always nice to see how these tools are applied in real life operations. As opposed to simply reading about them in text books XD

edit: i poked around http://www.threerings.net for a bit but couldn't find them.

Just send them an e-mail and ask them. I can't imagine why a mission statement is confidential.

Before you go searching too

Before you go searching too hard, you should know that a lot of bay area companies don't really go for things like mission statements or core values. Generally speaking, they tend to look very little like what's taught in MBA type programs.

Really, they're a lot more like a weekly poker group or indie rock band: just a group of reasonably like-minded individuals who get together to make something happen.

And I, for one, am glad for it.

From what I understand, a

From what I understand, a mission statement is essentially bulls**t and has no real impact on the company's core values (also another bulls**t term), or how they truly operate. Its on a list of buzz words that are sought out by executive and marketing types to try and impress investors into thinking they know what they are doing, or the company itself is sound enough to turn a profit.

I used to work for a contractor that worked for the government in several areas... the Mission statement amounted to "providing innovative and cost effective solutions to our customer's needs, and do so with the highest level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism." (You'll notice that every major contractor has a variation based on these key words.) Anyway.... as soon as they were awarded a major contract, which they severely undercut the cost in order to win, they finally came to terms of the scale of the contract, and fell far short of they're deployment goal. And then they actually went back to the Government to ask for more money to finish the job... and the government had no choice but agree since they were already heavily invested into it. To date its one of the most universally bitched about services in the DoD... not that the soldiers are usually happy with what the lowest bidder provides.

This is not a proper mission

This is not a proper mission statement at all, but contact them of course:
