What do you do if you find a Love Puppy?

I mean, after letting it heal your party, and before ruthlessly savaging it and rummaging through the leftover scrap metal in the hopes of finding something usable and shiny.
I heard that going solo prevents it from dropping the accessories (probably to prevent looping), and according to the wiki, the first player to pick up the item gets it. How do you decide who gets the drop if it does drop something? Bum rush it all at once and hope you get it before everyone else?
This applies to any rare spawn, of course. Incidentally, does that solo thing only apply when leaving/getting kicked out of a party, and not to traversing the depth solo?

I consider myself fortunate
I consider myself fortunate for never having come across a Love Puppy with a group I'm unfamiliar with - saves me the trouble of having to fight over potential drops. I am however somewhat less fortunate for never having a Love Puppy drop anything interesting, ever, even when solo.

I've heard accounts of people
I've heard accounts of people finding a pendant and it going to someone else than the person who picked it up. So in my case we just kill it and hope to get lucky for a drop and then lucky enough to actually get picked randomly again by the loot distribution agent.

Love Puppy Reaction 101
1. Flip out.
Make a squealing noise, attack in randow directions (making sure not to damage the Love Puppy), spam-click the shield-button, spin around in circles, and/or performing other actions involving big outbursts of excitement and joy.
2. Hug it.
Approach the Love Puppy, usually standing directly in front of it, allowing its projectiles to slowly, but surely, heal you up. May be difficult to do from a distance and while in combat.
3. Prepare yourself.
All good things must come to an end, and so must this Love Puppy. For this step you calm your nerves and try to relax.
4. Cold-heartedly murder it.
Relieve stress and aggrivation by mercilessly assaulting the defenseless Love Puppy, which can do nothing but wholeheartedly heal you and your party-members with its last breath before it shatters into scrap metal by your mighty blade, handgun or bomb.
5. Rummage the rubble.
Frantically search amidst the leftover metal, materials, mysteriously appearing crowns and heat for the fabled pendants.
6a. You get a pendant.
Repeat step 1 with increased intensity.
6b. You did not get a pendant.
Lower your head with disappointment, followed by a sigh or "Aww" uttered from deep within your body as your high spirits after the golden encounter dissipates into thin air.
If you have followed these steps promptly, you, too, are eligible for encountering Love Puppies. Happy killing!

I've encountered maybe 7 or 8
I've encountered maybe 7 or 8 Love Puppies and have never seen it drop anything valueable...

I've seen about 10. Never
I've seen about 10. Never dropped anything until recently it has started dropping vitapods, heat, and crowns. But that's the extent of my drops from them.

In all honesty, I've never seen a Love Puppy, but if I ever do, I'd let it heal me, then kill it and loot the body. XD
