So I'm fairly new to SK and I want to try out Heavy Swords, but I'm not sure where to start.
I've seen a lot of people with Sealed Sword-Divine Avenger, but that will probably take awhile to get. I have a Troika and I'm thinking of upgrading it, but before I do, it would be nice to know which path would be best for it... Or should I just buy a Seal Sword and upgrade that (i have like 600k+ crowns)

As for shields I've been using a Wise Owlite Sheild, but I'm not liking how easily piercing attacks break it. To solve that I was thinking of getting a Heavy Plate Shield instead, but I'm not sure if there is a better general use Shield...

Thanks for any and all help :D

I would go with Barbarous

I would go with Barbarous Thorn Shield instead. Yeah, it's piercing defense might not be as good as the heavy plate shield, but at least it goes nicely with your sword too. It has sword dmg boost to it.

EDIT: Just need to upgrade a Bristling Buckler to it, and you'll have no problem. ;)

Also, 20 Jelly gems isn't that hard time consuming yeah, but it's better than just buying it off with crowns in my opinion. But that's just me.

Well, the sealed sword isn't that difficult to get ahold of if you're willing to take the time to farm JK for tokens. Someone check my math on this, but at the current market price of ce (~6k cr/100 ce), 600k cr would translate to about 10k ce, and at 3 tokens per run, it would cost you 560 ce (3 tokens/run x 7 full tier 2 runs = 21 tokens) to get a sealed sword yourself, provided you have the right equipment and don't have to spend a lot of additional energy on revives--so take that into consideration when looking at prices on sealed swords at the AH or from another player.
As far as the versions of the troika go, neither is that great at the 5* level--their charge attacks just take too long and are too risky given the long recovery time. If you're just looking for a normal dmg sword with a lot of knockback, go with the lev/CIV. If you're really stuck on the idea of using a heavy sword, go with the DA/GF. And if you're really REALLY sure you want to explore the troika line, aim for the sudaruska--you'll have to spend a lot of time and cr farming PvP for the tokens to buy the recipes to craft up to the grintovec, and then almost never get any use out of the charge attack. Again, you could look for either the sudaruska or grintovec at the AH as well, just be savvy on how much you're willing to pay.
As for shields with piercing resistance: if your problem is alpha wolvers, no amount of piercing defense will keep your shield from breaking if you take all three bites in tier 3. If you really want a piercing-resistant shield, I would recommend the BTS for the additional sword dmg bonus and work on improving your dodging.
Hope this helps.

As an ex-Troika/Kamarin user,

As an ex-Troika/Kamarin user, I'd say not to bother with upgrading through either line. They're alright for training you on how to handle a heavy weapon, but their awful charge attacks and lack of specialized damage really limit their usefulness. I recommend switching to a Calibur until you get a Sealed Sword - once I retired my Kamarin, I started dying a LOT less. If you want a Sealed Sword immediately, they usually sell for around 50k cr, sometimes a bit less, but keep in mind that you'll probably be running the Royal Jelly Palace a lot anyway, because it's one of the most consistently profitable T2 areas.

New heavy sword users without

New heavy sword users without Vog should be using Swiftstrike Buckler until they get full Vog.
That's what I did, and I've been using heavy swords since I started SK.
It only being a 3* shield has it's perks as well, makes you focus on positioning, dodging, and how heavy sword mechanics work.

Thanks for all the tips and tricks guys :D
But as for now i have an Avenger and I'm working on getting heat and crowns for Divine Avenger :)
after that i will most likely be getting Vog or a combo of Vog and Skulker (not really sure yet)

As a little side note (more for myself :P) I am also doing Jelly King runs to get a 2nd Sealed Sword to get Faust and Grand Faust :D
