Between the two, which one is the better haze bomb?
I personally prefer the Voltaic Tempest for two reasons:
- It's easier to knock back shocked enemies than frozen enemies
- Mass shock on a group greatly reduces their attacking rate
Assuming you keep your distance with a Heavy/Piercing sword, it's actually really difficult to get hurt by their shock.
If you're fighting in a group, and in tight quarters, then having everyone huddle in a shivermist cloud and pick at the mobs as they get frozen around the edge can be an amazingly effective strategy.
If, on the other hand, you're soloing, or have a lot of mobility and/or enemies with ranged attacks, then the VT gets the upper hand for it's superior DoT and attack interrupts. The VT can also do impressive amounts of damage to grouped enemies if they manage to chain-shock each other; kats and zombies are great for this.
That said, my first 5* bomb is gonna be an AoA. What can I say, I'm a pyro... (VT will likely be second, followed by an SB if I decide to really go into bombing seriously)
That's really situational.
In FSC, Shivermist is really good as it lets DA users charge without ANY risks, and is godly to lock Vanaduke for Needle users (it's much easier that way).
Everywhere else, the no knockback of freeze can be a hindrance for sword users (i personally hate it), and freeze doesn't stack well with other status, whereas shock + fire is a very good combination. This last combination is my favorite for jelly palace.
In the end, both are useful. If you are not a primary bomber, i would still go Shivermist first. As a bomber, i would go shock + fire any day (except for FSC obviously), for status effect bombs.
Yes, sometimes you dont want them to move at all (coming from all directions), sometimes you want to be able to push them away. And both can screw you up on different occasions.
