We got special equpiment. A "groundbreaker" helm and armor as well as a Pioneer medal.
When you say artifacts are you talking about rare drops? You can get item dropped from red treasure boxes, although the chances are extremely rare.

What kind of Rare Items? Like the things we can craft? (Had a Kamarin drop from a chest) or are there more special things?

There are rarer things that drop. Things like the Antigua can drop from boxes, I don't know what all drops though...
beta players have the only artifact i know of, i forget what its called (i have one though). doesnt do anything just neat to have. the other beta rewards were some equipment (helm and armor i believe) that we get for all our characters. theyre 0 star equipment, but slightly better than the default gear players start with.
allow counts i think at this time are only either a 0 or a 1. if the count is a 1, i believe that means the developers modified the strata from what the minerals ended up generating. they are doing this manually because of minerals generating the same strata types for gates, so the gate has no variety without them making the changes.
