Shadow key price rocks!

Allrighty, at first, the Shadow key price SEEMED kinda lame. I got that "socks for christmas" feeling. THEN I did the math, becuase four people chip in. Apparently, if the CE price were at 6666 and 2/3 Cr, then everyone would pay 25k crowns, if there were four people. Obviously, 25k equals a 5* recipie, and you conviniently get an alchemy machine with 5* recipies in it at the end. So it's pretty good deal, though it might raise the CE price.
Love ya OOO!!!

I agree. Because of the recipe factor they are perfectly fair prices.
However, if future content has is even in the same spectrum as the prices of shadow keys it's a completely different story. Shadow lairs, as I see them now, are like exotic side-quests which bestow rare rewards. Future content should be held more seriously and it should be much more accessible and additionally of extreme fraction of shadow key current price, if ANY PRICE AT ALL should even be necessary, which IMO, it isn't. However, due to the mechanics of the energy system we can predict that OOO will continue to exploit the many uses the system has to offer. Not that it's a bad thing, per-say, but it's not exactly welcomed by many people when one looks at other games' examples of end-game content accessibility.

But i think it's silly to be that thankful that they lowered the price. Don't forget that they are providing a service in exchange for revenue. I'd have been about 2/3rds as appreciative as you if they would have gotten it right the 1st time. But there was a lot of..."shady"...stuff going on around those shadow keys originally--when suddenly 10 would show u at a time on the AH all for the same low bid price...draw your own conclusions.

The price would be alright if it weren't for a "limited" time. They aren't going to be available from Boost forever (unless OOO decides to change their minds... again).

It doesn't work quite that way.
Right now, i go into T3 and get a 5* mat and a 5* recipe on T3 basil, then sell them on the AH. Someone else buys them and crafts a 5* item. (5* mats are *only* used for 5* items...) To do the same with the shadow lairs, I would also have to unbind the item, adding 4kCE.
I also a few 5* items that I have multiple copies of with different UVs, which the recipe price gets averaged over. With shadow lairs, I have to make one trip per 5* material, there is no averaging of the 25k.
For the few 5* items that I've unbound and sold, the recipe is, again, averaged over them.

Maybe if the Shadow Lairs produced equipment worthy of being rare, such as a pure elemental or pure shadow sword, maybe a Curse AoE bomb, or even a shield which offered protection in everything but normal, I'd consider them. Maybe.

price is high, but at least its certain, I can live with that for now.

Indeed. And it is available on demand. The limitations of the AH keep it from creating a good market, especially for things like this.

if u dont wana craft stupid items and wana just play new content (cause runing vanaduke 300x + is so boring), then the new price is stil high. but better than before patch;)
(sorry for my bad english)

I think this is an indication of what OOO thought Shadow Keys were worth. Going back to the whole "shadow keys are like accessories" comment. But the rarity/randomness of Shadow Keys combined with the demand, combined with the profits from selling mats/sets artificially inflated the value of keys, thus the bubble. How long the bubble would last, who knows, I'm glad OOO stepped in to pop it.
With the keys available from Boost they are no longer rare, the demand is satiated, and mats/sets should sell at reasonable values. The latter will reduce the out-of-control profit the Shadow Lairs created. When keys are removed from Boost, hopefully the market will be stable and the keys will be more like Boost's suggested retail value.
P.S. I've already bought my Shadow Key from Boost, will try it out tomorrow when my mist tank is full again :D

The real danger of promoting new content by chance is that you could introduce "lucky fools" who either do not know what things should be worth (and so things get grossly mispriced), or they are easy bought out by the wealthiest players (and as a result, fueled greed). Both of these cooked up a bubble that when it bursts, hurts every one (including OOO).
I hope the guy who came up with Silver Key / Shadow Key / Lockbox idea learns the lesson because SK almost got destroyed because of this.

I agree. I was disappointed when Shadow Lairs came out since it required opening crates to get.
Now that you can purchase them anyways for what I'd consider to be a fair price I'm finally happy with that update. I feel like a lot of people would have been happier with this method from the get go. Being able to invest copious amounts of CE to not even be guaranteed a key is too much of a gamble for many players.

... I was heretofore F2P and with this change I dropped some real dough on the CE pack so I could pick up a shadow key and to support OOO.
I hope they see that this was a wise move.

I dunno, I decided I should stay F2P after seeing this. Keeping the special rewards rare could just as easily have been done by making the Shadow Key only required for the reward loot, there was no need to lock poor players out of the updated boss strata. If the game demands almost two USD for one dive for one party, I'm staying F2P as a matter of principle. :/ When my personal financial situation improves, I hope this trend will have reversed so I can feel good about supporting this game. If not, well, I guess it will mean this current model proved more profitable and the worst that could happen is I tire of the game and move on after only investing time I had fun with.
finaly somebody with a brain... god it's been out, what? 45 minuits and the first page is spammed with "omg overpriced crap is overpriced"
thank you for giving some love to OOO for doing this (and thank you OOO for doing this haha)
