- Added bindings for individual weapon slots (defaulting to 7/8/9/0).
;_;
Tears, they be happy ones.
Mentioned by many in beta and now it's finally implemented. No more awkward shuffling now ;_;

It means you can now bind a weapon slot to a individual key.
it means when you press
7 you switch to weapon 1
8 switch to weapon 2
9 switch to weapon 3
0 switch to weapon 4
instead of using the mousewheel or space to rotate through them.
I never bind anything on the scroll function of the mouse wheel. It is the devil!
lol , 7/8/9/0 even harder to switch compare to mouse wheel
But the point is you can now change it to whatever you want. You could make it z/x/c/v or something.
personally I would love it if they bound the gatemap to a key = ]
I played around with this tonight and found it disappointing. It is one of those things that sound great, until you get into the details.
I use the WASD keys to move around, and aim with my mouse. So, if I bind a key to a weapon, even if it is on my left hand, I can't switch weapons while I move. Right now, I have "next weapon" bound to the space bar, so I can move while whacking the space bar, so moving while changing weapons wasn't a problem before.
I can see this working if you have a mouse with extra buttons. I can see this working if you move via the mouse instead of WASD. It just doesn't work well for me. Oh well, I'm sure there are lots of people who will make quick use of this feature.
If you play fps or something like that youll map them to 1234 (or zxcv as mentioned) and switch while moving. You could also map them on the numpad instead of the battle cries.
i wonder if weapon switch bugs still occur with this feature..has any1 tryed yet?
My favourite (in other games, haven't done this in SK yet) is to map individual weapons to auxiliary mouse buttons.
For SK it would be roughly:
Wheelup = weapon 1
Wheeldown = weapon 2
Side button 1 = weapon 3
Side button 2 = weapon 4
So if you're running with, let's say, two swords, a status bomb and a gun for those pesky puppies, you could put your primary sword on wheelup, secondary on wheeldown, bomb on one side button, and gun on the other.
think im going to disable the spacebar and force myself to stop using it as a bad habit :P
@ Nicoya-Kitty
Genius! Except my side buttons don't register (forward, backward) and I'm not keen to assign them to something else for the sake of this game. =(
After trying a few things in the training hall:
Weapon 1 = Wheel up
Weapon 2 = Wheel down
Weapon 3 = Space
Weapon 4 = Left alt <-- A bit awkward to hit on my keyboard (but fine on the laptop), but not enough that I need to move my fingers away from WASD. For me, this weapon slot is usually relegated to the least used weapon for the stratum anyway.
I would have used caps lock, but the light going on and off on my keyboard would drive me MAD.
Left shift is for toggling auto-aim on, so that can't be used.
I like it!
Edit: I've also enabled z,x,c,f for 1-4, respectively. I think the v key is too annoying to reach with my index on the d key. YMMV. Will try out and see what I like after a while.
Bomb - mouse wheel up
Gun - mouse wheel down
Primary Sword - space
Secondary Sword - middle mouse button
I just use shift+ctrl+alt+c/space.
Depends on the game though, if there's a jump or special action I would use f or space.
Considering I always have 3 weapons, I find it easier to use mousewheel. heck, even in TF2 I prefer to use wheel scrolling. It's easier to move while doing so, and the number keys are a little awkward to hit without looking.
I use a Razer Naga, so I use the wheel for 2 weapons and 2 of the 12 side buttons for the other two.
TWELVE side buttons? WHY? Do you have 12 fingers?
TWELVE side buttons? WHY? Do you have 12 fingers?
Rather irrelevant when they're all within reach of my thumb...
razer naga.. designed for mmo players.. with a billion keybinds..
i don't even think sk has enough buttons for all 12 to be used
What does that mean...?
