Hello! I'm a somewhat new player to the game (just got 4 star swordsman.)
Anyways, I'm looking at making myself some setups for guns/bombs/both. I got myself some CE so I can buy the items I need. What im hoping to do is just buy the 3 star versions of the gear i need, since those are usually affordable enough, and then just level them and craft them the rest of the way, the same way i did with my swordsman.

When I was looking on the wiki, I was having a hard time figuring out just what gear to get for a gunslinger and a bomber. I also came across some mentioning of a gunner-bomber hybrid, which sounded fun. Ideally, id like a profile for a full gunner, full bomber and a hybrid.

So, what 3 star gear do i need to get as a starting point for those 3 profiles, and what should i alchemize them into down the road?

Any answers and tips are hugely appreciated :D

EDIT* Its also worth mentioning that at the moment I have only 2 weapon slots and no trinket slots. At some point ill look at getting those, but for now I've just got the basic set up.

Gunslinger and Demo

For armor, you only have one choice for each weapon type at the three star level.

For gunners, you get gunslinger hat and gunslinger sash.

For bombers, you have the fused demo helm and suit, which are crafted from the spiral demo counterparts.

For swordsmen, you can get the dusker set, crafted from wolver.

If you can afford it, I recommend getting both demo and gunslinger sets and either equipping one of each or a full set depending upon the stratum. For instance, wear gunslinger to a slime stratum because you'll see a lot of piercing attacks and demo to a constructs stratum because of their elemental attacks.

My favorite guns are the elemental alchemers (especially cryotech and firotech), the elemental pulsar (not a starter gun because you get it with boss tokens), and the shadowtech alchemer. I've also seen people use the needle shot to good effect, but I haven't tried it myself yet.

For bombs, you can't go wrong with the blast bomb line, all the way up to nitronome. Fiery and freezing vaporizers are also great, especially in a party. Finally, the spine cone line (start with snarby tokens) makes mincemeat of beasts and fiends, so it's invaluable.

I am a gunslinger, and were a bomber once. But back to the topic.
The biggest pain for bombers are turrets.
Slot 1: Cryotech alchemer (when you get to the driver stage(4*) they become rly powerful)
Are you sick of everything that: bites, smashes, thwacks, slashes, scratches, spits, and so on, so forth. Well your problem is solved.
Slot 2: Blast Bomb( Your party will hate it ,but its a life saver)
As you upgrade I reccomend the mad bomber set, which is made from the demo set.
The gunslinger dosen't provide any good bonuses compared to the bomber sets.
As for the future
Slot 3: Shivermist Buster(Freezing Vaporizer line)
Slot 4: Dark Briar Barrage

So you gonna be a solo

So you gonna be a solo bomber. In party NEVER EVER USE THIS ************* DARK BRIAR OR BLAST BOMB!!! There is nothing more annoying than this - after tell the bomberman they shouldnt use it in party and they still do i kick em. I know they deal good damage, but decreasing the dmg of all other in the party ... It's sad, awful but true...

I recommend you a Polaris for turrets due canceling their attacks witch each expandet bullet. But only for turrets, because its an annoying weapon too.
Bombs - Shivermist, Graviton, Tempest, most of all bombs are awesome, even salt bomb. But i dont really know pretty much about bombs...

Dark Briar's perfectly

Dark Briar's perfectly acceptable for party use. It doesn't have any knockback, so allies' attacks don't whiff as enemies get thrown around, like they do with Blast Bombs. It's the same reason why spamming expanded Pulsar shots in certain situations gets your party mad at you: lumbers are suddenly where they shouldn't be, bashing your brains out while flying across the arena floor. Bad stuff.

My typical gun/bomb setup for two weapon slots is my Biohazard (5* Catalyzer) and my Ash of Agni (5* status bomb). 2 damage types covers pretty much everything, and the two generally complement each other; the Biohazard's no good against undead and fiends, but that's what fire is for, leaving me vulnerable only to greavers (but then, who isn't vulnerable to %$#@&! greavers?). In Arenas particularly, it's a great setup for taking out healers; the bomb sets them on fire when placed well enough and keeps them busy mending their allies, especially with Silkwings, and the slow Catalyzer bullets can force Menders out from the center into a corner, where I can set up a charge or two on them while their shield is down to shatter it when it goes up.

What does the Spinecone line

What does the Spinecone line do that is annoying for party mates? As far as I know, it just deals damage and knocks some monsters down like the Magnus line does. I am not much for bombing, but am impressed with the Spinecone. Speaking of Magnus, I rather like it for Greavers.

I don't think it is essential to go for armor with bonuses for weapon classes, especially if you are mixing classes. Covering the damage types and status effects you expect to see the most of is more important, to the extent that it should also be the heaviest factor to consider when choosing alternate armor to invest in for swap-outs. If you are talking about going for three full sets, I guess it could be worth it to invest in the specialised armor but if you are not buying slot upgrades I guess you're probably talking about more cost-effective options. IMHO the first things to invest in for swap-outs by tier, after your first full loadout of course, are more weapons- not just in terms of effectiveness, but fun to play.

Which defenses to focus on depends on what you have the most trouble with, really, but the most common advice is to try to cover as many types and status effects as you can for your first/main defenses. I myself went with Wolver & Magic with Drake Scale Shield, planning to end up with Skolver Coat and Divine Veil, and am hopefully getting some Shadow defense soonish in case I have much trouble with any Fiend or Undead strata. Scary Skelly would make the most sense, especially considering its appearance and my user name, but I grabbed the Angelic Raiment recipe because it was the first suitable one I saw after deciding what I wanted to do, because I am too impatient and it's a hilarious costume piece anyway. Maybe by the time I get around to it I will have the Skelly recipes too. :/

The ghost snarby on the DBB

The ghost snarby on the DBB can be a bit visually distracting, though on the whole it's much less of an issue than the Nitronome's blue screen of death.

Pretty much any bomb can be visually distracting, though. Probably the worst mess of pixels I was ever in the middle of was when I was soloing an arena and got a swarm of gremlin bombers as the last wave, and decided to spam my Fiery Atomizer. The screen was crazy whirlwind of fire haze, bomb explosions, damage numbers, healer hearts and "Fire!" notices.
