I'm curious as to what gear people have and use regularly. Simply leave a post with the following, if you would:

Helmet: (Name, star level)
Armor: (Name, star level)
Shield: (Name, star level)
Weapon 1: (Name, star level)
Weapon 2: (Name, star level)
Why do you use this setup?:

This thread will also (hopefully) serve as a good guideline for what gear is the best to go after/easiest to get.

My setup:

Helmet: Cobalt Helm **
Armor: Cobalt Armor **
Shield: Defender **
Weapon 1: Tempered Calibur (UV Construct Damage) ***
Weapon 2: Blaster **
I use this setup because I needed a full 2-star set to reach Tier 2. I'm proud that I reached it in a little over a day without buying any CE for cash.

currently: magic hood

currently:

magic hood (2-star)
cobalt armor (2-star)
jelly shield (2-star)
tempered calibur (3-star)
proto gun (0-star) LOL

this is not my ideal setup by any means. i had a defender shield but i picked up a jelly as a drop so i wanted to level it up. i like the magic hood series and i think im going to pursue a 5-star version (just started a thread about it looking for advice), and will need an armor series to complement that. sticking with the calibur, and might persue the callahan gun line since I have the recipe for the magnus.. but i dont know. havent given much thought to my secondary weapon, clearly! havent even crafted a 1 star replacement lol. also have no clue what my shield endgame is but the helm and armor are more important right now.

Helmet: Miracle Hood Armor:

Helmet: Miracle Hood 4*
Armor: Miracle Cloak 4*
Shield: Wise Owlite Shield 4*
Weapon 1: Lv7 Faust (Soon to be Gran Faust) 4*
Weapon 2: Fiery Atomizer 4*

Use the magic set because every monster and their mother deals elemental damage, and fire absolutely destroys me. To me it's the most dangerous debuff. Faust and other heavy swords are my favorite. They hit very hard and knock enemies back so far that they can't counterattack. Since they only have a two-hit combo it's very easy to make use of your shield. They're the absolute best for soloing.

I use Fiery Atomizer to clear packs of mobs and arenas. I've gone through entire arenas without taking a single hit by spamming Fiery Atomizer bombs. Unlike other bombs they don't knock back, and the fire debuff slowly whittles enemies away while you kite them. Hope this was helpful for other players.

Thanks for the post! And you

Thanks for the posts! And you all have convinced me to post my own setup, which I will now edit in to the original post.

@djbiznach: I also don't give a lot of choice to my secondary (Currently a Blaster) because I only use it to flip switches or kite some of the more annoying enemies (such as Lumbers in Tier 2). I have almost no idea what the recommended armors/weapons are for endgame, but hopefully I'll get a grasp of that in the next couple of days.

@Gonefishin: Your post is EXTREMELY helpful to me. Having only played 2 days, I don't know what armors are the best in terms of Normal and Elemental defense.

personally im fairly new to

personally im fairly new to the game, but im advancing quickly but im still pretty torn on what type of equip i wanna use.

Right now i have:
Helmet: Dusker cap 3*
Armor: Dusker coat 3*
Shield: mix between horned owlite 3*, swiftstrike buckler 3*, scary skelly shield 3*
Weapon 1: Vile striker 4* or winmillion 4*
Weapon 2: strike needle 4*
Weapon 3: Pepperbox 3*

basically i know i want vog cub set, but im not sure what i'll be facing on the lower levels of clockworks so i can't decide on a shield. i figure i want either wise/gray owlite or sinister/dread skelly but i think ideally what i'll aim for is blackened crest/crest of almire (can you even get their recipes?..haven't seen em).

im reading a lot about needing a lot of elemental defense, but i dunno i just have a hard time with shadow. tho i don't know if you even face shadow in the lower lvls, no idea. basically skelly seemed great since it had shadow defense and resis to frost, which i hate, and its easy to make...i have the most trouble with freeze/fire and vog cub already has fire defense. then theres the owlite shields which have great fire defense but its elemental defense, which i should have a lot of already with vog cub etc right? then theres the ultimate of the crests...big fire resis AND shadow defense, what i think would be best anyway.

so really, what shield is ideal?

as for weapons i wanted my vile striker for obvious reasons, and i have winmillion cause it looks sweet and was my first 4* weap. i'll eventually tamper with other weaps, but i dunno...i just can't help but think to myself (through the wiki info anyway) whats better than high atk pow and high atk spd right?
does the sealed sword line actually do much more damage, or even more DPS than the striker line? like it shows the atk pow at the same spot, but its much lower attack speed, and only a 2 hit combo where as striker is technically 10 hits. does that added elemental damage go on top of your regular hit, so basically doing twice the damage or what??

Helmet: (Skelly Mask,

Helmet: (Skelly Mask, 2**)
Armor: (Cobalt Armor (UV-piercing damage reduce low)/ Spiral Demo Helm 2**)
Shield: (Defender, 2**)
Weapon 1: (Tempered Calibur, 3***)
Weapon 2: (Cryotech Alchemer/Freezing Vaporizer 2**)
Why do you use this setup?:

Not really a big reason. It's kind of just the stuff I have. I have noted the skelly mask being helpful against shadow opponents. The cobalt armor is really just because I wanted to try it and see if it was better against Jelly King, but I had been wearing the Spiral Demo Helm for my bomb. The defender...just works enough, I may go for owlite later. Tempered Calibur is yet again, just because it works, I've also recently discovered that actually bothering to charge the darn thing is useful in an arena >.> Lastly, the cryotech alchemer/freezing vaporizer, they're just because I like freezing things. Works well for me. I've stopped using the freezing vaporizer for now because it's range is small and isn't going to cut it too much in the levels I've been running for Tier 2.

im a collector >.< im gonna try and make every set like jelly, magic, angelic :D

Calibur cuz its a versatile weap, but i wanna make the sealed sword line.
As for guns, i like the freezing effect, but ill prob make the autogun line as well :P

Helmet: Fused Demo Helm

Helmet: Fused Demo Helm ***
Armor: Fused Demo Suit ***/Sunset Duster **** (For costume purposes later on)
Shield: Horned Owlite *** (Thinking about jelly shield though.)
Weapon 1: Tempered Calibur ***
Weapon 2: Mega Magnus **** (Leveling to be Iron Slug)
Weapon 3: Super Blast Bomb ***
Weapon 4: Freezing Vaporizer **/Toxic Vaporizer **

A lot of this is about ready for an upgrade but I am trying to get everything to level 10 and slowly upgrade to make leveling new items easier. Keep in mind that you normally might want a lot more than just one basic gear set. When you know certain levels are only going to be one element, it is easier to ready yourself with the right gear for them. I didn't even list all the options I want to take into consideration once I have the time to level them.

thats part the thing tho

thats part the thing tho right - each gate has a number of different levels to choose from which could vary in element etc right?? so is it best to have specialized gear for certain gates (which change every week right?) or try to be a jack of all trades and balanced in all rights?

Well I'm no expert, but

Well I'm no expert, but that's usually the price of balance versus specialization.

If you're lazy or poor (me), balance is great, since you never have to worry about changing much. But on the other hand, you are never good at dealing with any one thing.

But with specialization, you get to be the greatest at one thing, but you fail at something else. But with gates, this problem can be almost eliminated really. If you say like only running jelly king, you can just have armor that's good for that. It won't matter what the other gates do since you refuse to go in them lol. If you know you will never run into shadow (or rarely run into it), there's no purpose in worrying about shadow damage.

I'd leave it to the experts to give you other advice though. I'm just an average Tier 2 guy. Both methods can work fine.

Well considering the current

Well considering the current lack of game content available, it is quite easy to specialise yourself for all gates.

Simply wear Vog Cub and wield a Divine Avenger.
There, you can win the entire game now.

Armor: Sunset Duster 4*, Ashtail Coat 4*
Shield: Wise Owlite 4* or Swiftstrike Buckler 3*
Weapon 1: Divine Avenger 5*
Weapon 2: Blackhawk 4*, Fiery Pepperbox 4*, Winmillion 4*
Why do you use this setup?: attack bonuses in either damage source, divine avenger is godly, anything else rotates around based on preference.

Helm: Dusker Cap (3*, desire

Helm: Dusker Cap (3*, desire to upgrade it all the way to Vog Cub), Spiral Demo Helm (2*, ditto, to something)
Armor: Dusker Coat (3*, ditto), Spiral Demo Suit (2*, ditto, to same as the Spiral Demo Helm)
Shield: Firebreak (3*, upgrading all the way!), Swiftstrike Buckler (3*)
Weapon 1: Kamarin (3*, upgrading to Khorovod)
Weapon 2: Freezing or Poison Vaporizer Mk II (3*, upgrading further)
Weapon 3: Tempered Calibur (3*, upgrading further)
Weapon 4: Fiery Vaporizier Mk II (3*, upgrading further)

Why?

Dusker is for the sword damage bonus, and it's cute (at least to me; and I see that someone is accusing people of being furries by preferring this outfit, which is... a bit over-generalizing). Demo is for bomb charging speedup. In a party with my friends, I play the role of either bomber or high melee damage.

Firebreak is for the elemental defense, as well as defense against the Fire status effect, one of the most damaging effects to be victim to. Swiftstrike is for the speed, which is quite nice when speeding up a slower heavy sword.

Kamarin: high damage and it's bigger than myself. Currently it's full leveled, and the charged attack against a lumber hits for 215 points of damage to multiple monsters and bestows stun.

The vaporizer bombs are for the status effects; but they also do elemental damage. Freezing is for crowd control if one can pull it off, poison is to stop healing, and fiery is to cause constant damage. Plus, sometimes I just want to set things on fire. Clean the clockworks with holy flames! A note: the Mk I (2*) versions have a rather small radius; it's by Mk II that the radius becomes larger and thus more potent, and it just gets better more and more.

Calibur: for its better speed than the slow sword, and its spin attack, which has surprisingly high 360º knockback along with damage above 100 points a little over halfway leveled. Mine also has a bonus already against undead as a unique variant, which means I'm herding it towards Leviathan Blade rather than Cold Iron Vanquisher.

I alternate bombs and swords in order on my character because sometimes I get a bit mixed up in the heat of battle, despite binding both previous weapon and next weapon to convenient buttons on the gamepad; thus it's a good idea to be only one step away from a weapon that doesn't need charging to cause damage.

equipped for demolition

Helm: Spiral Demo Helm **
Armor: Heavy Demo Suit ****
Shield: Owlite Shield **
Sword: Striker ***
Gun: Autogun ** (not equipped)
Bomb: Fiery Vaporizer MkII ***

I picked all this gear primarily because it can potentially be upgraded to five stars.

Currently I use sword/bomb, but mostly bomb. It creates a nice distance between me and the enemies and no matter their resistance to fire, for most monsters it's just a matter of time before they go down. Makes danger rooms a lot easier too.

I like the Demo line because it gives elemental defense, the damage type dealt by the monsters that I find hardest to evade. I usually have no trouble with dodging shadow or piercing. Just haven't found an upgrade for the Helm and Shield yet and people have been asking unreasonable prices for them in Haven. Having no recipe vendor in Moorcroft sucks! (Although I can see how easily it would be abused in the current setup.)

Other than that I'm just cruising, taking my time to collect the crowns and items, not in a hurry to hit the Wall of Content. What gear I want is pretty much already decided. Will probably get an Antigua when I can afford it too.

Question: Is the general

Question: Is the general consensus that the Gran Faust is a better overall weapon than the Divine Avenger? And should I continue down the Calibur sword line, or start with another line (such as the Cutter)?
