I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who has seen this happen: There's some devilites and pit bosses around; I bust out my snarby sword and start hacking away at them. I whittle down their numbers and just as I'm starting to take out the last of them, something odd happens...

I take some swipes at a devilite and a pit boss standing together. The devilite goes down first, and in the next swipe the pit boss goes down. BUT WAIT, that was the last regular devilite in the area, so the remaining pit bosses all transform into devilites... including the one in the middle of its death animation.

Devilites are annoying enough without self-resurrection powers.

This happened to me twice,

This happened to me twice, like you said: "Devilites are annoying enough without self-resurrection powers."
This caused me to die in a tier 3 run on the one occasion that this happened, and this was my face: ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

It happens to me all the time

It happens to me all the time and it made me learn to shield right after one goes down, in case the next one transforms and is alive again.
However, when you don't play solo and Devilites are killed by players you don't see, it's hard to have your shield up in time.

Pls, fix this. It makes no sense, does it?

anyway, on topic

I can't stand develites that rev themselves. For Peat's sake, once one of them revived by it's self! There was one left, there were no others with him for 3 whole seconds. I kill him. And then a speech bubble appears above his head saying,"and come in on Sundays too...," and out of no were, this over timer shows up. ლಠ益ಠლ Grrr, why you. (gets hit in the rear end) GAAH! I HATE PITCHFORKS!

Technically there is nothing wrong. The moment you kill the last devilite, all pit bosses transform into devilite.
