Various Random Status Suggestions

Blind - Your screen is fogged up. Monsters that are blinded have trouble firing projectiles accurately at you.

Madness - You see illusions of other monsters. Monsters that are under the influence of madness will randomly attack the air around them.

Haunted - A phantom appears that attacks you. Against monsters it is essentially the same - a phantom appears that attacks them. If an enemy is haunted the phantom is blue in color to distinguish it.

Unstable - You move slower, and when damaged become either frozen, poisoned, on fire, or shocked. The status basically functions the same for monsters.

Doom - A countdown starts that, if it reaches 0, causes your knight to lose all his hearts. Doom can be removed by remedy pills, by defeating the monster that applied Doom, or other special circumstances. Monster-only status effect.

Edited the OP: Haunted is a different status from Doom now.

Great! but... Unessesary

Unstable - doesn't make much sense

Blind - +1 I like it, but what is this Mario Kart?

Doom - anything that could cause such a status could be OP, especially a player

Madness - +1 I like it but I'd like it more if you'd lose control over your avatar and started attacking fellow players and all players would look like monsters other than you and called it "Berserk" (with all of your side effects of course)

but overall these are great ideas! but in my opinion are unnecessary

That's sort of the point. It is an ultimate status effect. Curse should fill that role, but it is trivial with 4 weapon slots and a bit of curse resistance. Obviously a player wouldn't be able to inflict it. I see this being used only by a new boss and/or his sub-bosses.

Grim Reaper? When we already have those harbinger of disasters known as Grimalkins that could spawn (possibly with a speed boost to account for larger areas).

I don't like the idea of blind or madness though. It would actually be a negative thing to affect enemies with, as it would make them far more unpredictable and thus dangerous.

Also would those stuff affect all monsters or have exceptions (like sleep on constructs or curse on undeads)

The unstable feature can backfire you if you for example hit an oilers and it ends up on fire. I guess this'll be a portable version of sealed's charge?

Well if an enemy gains some sort of benefit from a status effect, then you don't have to use it.

As for blind/madness, I could see certain enemies having immunities. Especially boss enemies. As for being unpredictable, if you don't like it, you wouldn't have to use it. Stun can make enemies unpredictable as the effect can wear off at any moment, and with freeze you can have trouble knocking them bad properly. They're just more options to use. Also, I think madness would probably be mostly a monster effect as well, but maybe a couple items could inflict it.

Grimalkin are different because they're only in candlestick and they're afraid of the light.

I like blind, Prismatic Alchemer could have this due to Prisim-Colour of light-Light.

Haunted= New line Necromancers, like a shot gun that shoots black spread bullet and charge summons zombies in a grim totem sign that that inflict Haunted with very weak knockback and recoil
Spread will get faster from 3-5*, 3*Necromancer, 3 zombies in the grim toten sign,4*Grim Necromancer, a bigger grim totem sign is on the floor with 6 shadow zombies in there and inflict Haunted in that area with weak knockback and recoil,5*Death Bringer(skulduggery Plesant reference), a reaper ingsinia is big and several zombies are there with Haunted inficting properties and medium knockback and recoil. Guns/recoil/knockback is 3*very weak,4* weak,Medium. The Haunted's effectivness is dependent on its speed to get you.
Doom(monster)= reaper is phantom with a sythe and a cloak and causes doom

UNSTable is the sealed sword abilities.

Aww

Eh, reapers are okay right(look under doom(monster), they cause doom and are reapers with cloaks and sythes. They would probaly appear in place of a Phantom.

And haunted still sucks, but the rest is great (But I really don't think OOO will do more status affects)

What exactly is wrong with it? I like the idea of status effects that are more interactive as opposed to "-12 HP over 12 seconds". I don't mind fire in the vanaduke fight but outside of it is an extremely boring status effect. I hope in the future status effects can all be fairly interesting. Probably part of the reason Sleep got scrapped was because you couldn't do anything about it once afflicted.

Oh I get Doom, playing KH and FF shows you the Doom enermy spell.

And I should replace doom with necromancer gun with haunted.

Haunted is a reference to the old Gauntlet arcade games. I feel bad for anyone who hasn't been exposed to that kind of rage inducing difficulty... but gone are the days of milking kids for quarters.

I couldn't find any good footage, but essentially its an invulnerable monster that can steadily drain the life of any player it comes in direct contact with. The only way to get rid of it was using a "potion", the game's equivalent to a screen clearing bomb. Its ranked among the most annoying/dangerous enemies in video game history, making it an Iconic monster for anyone who grew up with Arcades and the NES.

That wasn't exactly what I was thinking of, but you made me nostalgia quite a bit. Gauntlet Dark Legacy was a blast. I only wish I could go on gaming marathons like that with my brothers in Spiral Knights and have as much fun.
