A group of four people including myself were on Depth 16 of Copper Rock Gate in the Jelly Garden. We were in the area with the 4 gates that you get keys from. In the bottom right gate, the final tree appears when you unlock all the switches. After killing the tree, the game lagged for about 10 seconds. When the connection came back, the tree had turned into a shadow area on the ground, along with two other purple jellies. We could not attack the figures, but you could see the shadow effect on the ground and the gate with the key would not open. The music continued playing, you could kill yourself on the spikes, but the gate would not open. I have some pictures of the effect.
Would like to report so the issue/bug could be fixed. Hope other knights don't travel 8 floors just to not get Jelly Gems.
Can put in other details if you need.

Enemy Disappears into shadow/Won't let continue
No, I honestly didn't know there was a F2 feature. If what you say is true, then I have no data of what happened. I assumed they could get the data from the instance.
I had the same problem alittle while ago in arena, but I don't know if shadows showed up too, because I play on low detail.
And just like you, even throwing a vial where I thought the enemies were didn't do anything, but they did hit something.
When a GM showed up, the invisible enemies didn't show, but they did start attacking me, and would show up in the bottom part of the arena.
Did the shadow of the lumber shove you away too? Like in this video, I kept getting shoved away from where the enemies would be spawning.

Here's another video of the enemies appearing in the bottom of the arena.

Sent in a bug report, too.
It looks like the game is having problems determining whats on the Z axis. Then attacking you was probably an invisible GM ressing you. If you watch closely, they all disappear right when they cross your horizontal plane. Same thing with the explosions.
But whats confusing is the 2nd issue is a client side rendering problem, but the first one would have to be server side, or it wouldn't have stopped the spawn triggers.
The shadow never "pushed" me away, but I couldn't walk through the space. I wish I had sent a bug report and gotten a GM now because it's bugging me to find out what it is. I don't have a capture card or online recorder, so I couldn't get video except for some pics I already posted on my Steam account. I experienced between 7-10 seconds of lag, then as if the enemies were never there, they went away. The shadow could be seen of the lumber, but the mini-jelly couldn't be seen except if you ran into the area where it should have been.
Did you F2 bug report it when it happened? Its nigh impossible to pull off data on an instance once its closed out, which could be the only way to figure out what happened to it.
