Periodic lag and blank screen

I think people have reported this before but I would like to address it as well.
Firstly, the game frequently freezes for several seconds while in Haven especially near the Auction House. I've set all configurations to low but it barely changed anything. In the Clockworks, lag occurs often in levels with weather effects. It always lags for a few seconds when monsters spawn in new areas and when I change weapons. While this is most of the times manageable I despise when your character blocks in an endless lag loop of the last action executed for many minutes causing death if monsters are nearby. It also disconnects me from the server and there are high chances for me to return to Haven when I log back on.
Secondly, while I was soloing the last level of Tier 2 of the Silver Bishop elevator the play screen suddenly went blank but the monster kept attacking. Again I died quickly and the screen remained blank until I've returned to Haven.
Lastly, I would also like to mention that I did not have such severe problems before the latest patches and I play the game using my Steam account.

Here are my computer specs if it helps with anything:

Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Speed: 2079 Mhz
Memory: 1023 Mb DDR1
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X1650 Series
Operating System: Windows XP SP3 32 bit
Java Version: 1.6.0_29

What I want to know is if this is a problem from the game itself or my PC and if there's a way to at least reduce the lag.

Thank you for reading and have a good day.

The screen blanking is a new

The screen blanking is a new bug, but I haven't been able to catch it and find out what happening. As for the studdering, thats a bit more subjective considering your setup.

Try running the game in Compatibility mode under the adv video options, and see if the area around AH starts behaving more. If its still acting up, try reinstalling the game just to make sure its not hung up on a corrupted model, and see how that works.

Beyond that, make sure your idle desktop memory usage isn't too high. If windows is getting overloaded from too many programs, the game won't fair any better.

new patch

I've been playing SK for about a week now on a brand new computer. The freezing just started since the last patch.

6core 3.4ghz Phenom
8gb ram
1gb ati HD video card
windows 7 professional
liquid cooled i mean the problem is not the pc, i have zero apps running but critical background stuff when I play games.

I have very little programs installed and running on this computer, the first few days of playing on full high settings I was very pleased with how the game played a constant 60fps and in tight battles 30fps with max graphics. Nothing has changed in terms of fps rates on a general scale after this last patch, but I am experiencing some of the worst micro-freezing i've ever seen in a game. As monsters spawn, as I move or try to block...basically at all the critical moments when absolute quick decision making is essential to not loosing life/shield.

This game is way too fast paced to have micro-freezing, and my computer is designed for heavier graphic games then this -- I've even turned my settings down, it happens during off hours and prime time hours so I know it's not the server. I've changed nothing on my computer, no updates, just SK -- and several times a night several other players are very vocal about the same issue.

edit: it is not a data issue either, I am on 100mbps fiber-optic connection with a ping average of 5-8ms
