The candies had a very specific time and date on them. "Expires November 2nd at 3 AM EDT" and said they would expire when the festival ended. My understanding of that syntax is that the festival will end at midnight pacific time on November first.
My girlfriend and I had set aside time tonight to grind out the last of the candies, and now we can't.

...wow, and I just posted a topic on this. Yeah, I was 20 away from mine too, and yeah, my significant other and I were going to grind the masks out today, too. In fact we started, then went to do our workouts, came back, logged in - "Festival ends in 63 minutes."

I was 2 candies away from getting the kat mask...2 CANDIES. I also have enough crowns to get the candies but...yeah the traders are gone and I got 73 useless sweet candies.

Welp, I'm glad I got my farming done already, especially since they ninja-ended the event. I don't suppose you guys have tried sending a ticket about it? I'm not sure if they'd be able to do anything though, since it's already all gone, though it couldn't hurt to try. Sorry for your misfortune though, It's dumb that they did that, since the candies themselves state that they expire on the 2nd, leading you to believe that that's when the event ended. Especially since it explicitly states "All candy expires when the Dark Harvest Festival ends."
Oh well, this sucks, I lost my candy. Ugh, I'd wish they made it longer.

ohh well thanks God i did not waste time in trying to get candies, i was the 1 or 2nd player to have there original costume when the Halloween update came to play... what i did? i just buy energy and re sold it for crowns to buy candies and to sell my candies to buy my Authentic Cat BOOO Head Costume check me out, here is picture of my character when they gave me the Halloween pumpkin belt

For my part, I wasted about ~250 CE (as did my SO) grinding levels in ways I likely would not have had I known I would get literally nothing (the reboot happened just as I got to the mask merchant to grab at least a temp mask) for it. I got no heat, minimal crowns (I'm in 4/5* and I was grinding tier 1), and approximately 150 completely useless candies for about two bucks in real life money. (I paid for my CE with real cash.)
It's not a huge loss, but it is still annoying and I feel ripped off.
im more upset about the last shadow key i was going to buy. converted my last bit of crowns to CE to pay for it early in the day, was waiting til i got home from work to buy it. not cool.

Both of you start a trade on steam, and the trade window works like any trade window, only difference is you have to press a "make trade" button after pushing the equivalent of confirm for sk. So extra security if you wish. The con is that you must use steam, some people dont like that.

Yea, I saw that too. I thought it more meant it was the last day.
When the candy says it will expire when the event is over, and that it will expire at a very specific time, don't just cut that time short by 9 hours. I know I wasn't "cheated" but I kinda feel like you should let people know the actualy time frame they are gonna have to be able to do something.

OOO gave people almost 2 weeks to get the masks, if school has taught people anything it should be to never leave things to the last minute.

Some of us have jobs and can't play all the time.
And that post only says it will end November 1st. The candy "In game" said that it would end midnight on November 1st. They ended it 6 hours or so before the only time stamp relating to it.
School actually taught me that I can do anything at the last minute and still succeed.
I almost killed myself, since i wanted the authentic spookat helm, and i got it 40 minutes before the update.

There was also an in-game mail that stated the same. Maybe someone who kept the mail could double check.
What ended up happening was that it continued until the afternoon.
While the items would expire at midnight, did you really expect OOO to stay up till midnight to put on a patch? If you were going to be "cramming" the hunt until the last day, shouldn't you have checked the latest patch notes to confirm the ending?

I even checked on my other knights, and it was not there either. This leads me to certain suspicions, but for now I will assume it is a random glitch or something else thats inconspicuous.

For the 11/2/11, I believe what you were referring to what the expiration in the description of the candy. I remember seeing this too.
When you hovered over the candy tokens, it said it would expire at midnight or 0:00, Nov 2, 2011. This is essentially the same at 11:59 Nov 1, 2011.
What I think most people did was just glance at the candy and see the "nov 2" and assume they're good to go candy hunting well into the 2nd.
I am pretty sure I saw the day 11/2/11 in the announcements and/or the mail they sent out. As for hovering over the candy to see the expiration date? I was anaware of that feature. Was there another place the date the candy expired is displayed?
On the other hand, "11:59 Nov 1, 2011" is not essentailly the same. It is exactly one minute before November 2nd. However, "midnight" or "12:00" can go to either day, depending on who you are talking to and the context of the other statements. This would be essentially November 2nd, but not 11:59.
I don't want to assume things here, but from my end, which is only one vantage point, it looks a bit like they changed their minds and changed the dates. Of course, I may be missing something here.
Sorry about that, guys. The tooltip text on the candies was incorrect, when it should have been in sync with the newsletter, announcement, and other messaging we had out there which said November 1. We do apologize.

While I am not happy over this expiration mistake, nothing we can do about it...I just hope it wont happen again.
I was able to gather enough candies before it was too late despite starting to collect them late. I was lucky to find a gate with quite a few clockwork tunnel levels in it. However I thought that it'd be convenient to be able to trade one type of candy for another from the vendor that sold them. Though this would be at a cost of 2 candies for 1. Like 2 Hard or Sweet Candies for 1 Sour Candy. Though looking back at it I dunno how this Idea would fare well in practice.
School's teaching me many old things nowadays, but it didn't teach me that gates rotate. I taught myself that. And a gate which rotated fairly early on in the event had depths 9, 10, and 11 all with clockworks tunnels (or sufficient variants), so I just ran those 3, returned to haven, ran them again, returned, etc. I managed to get everything I needed within about 6 hours of the gate's closing, and the event ended maybe 4-6 days later. I have all 3 masks, and now comes the hard part of grinding to get stuff that looks good with them.
