Ele High + Pierce Low Plate Shield- What do I do with it?

I just rolled this today (and then a shock low one XD) and I have simply no idea what to do with it.
I'm very tempted to keep it since my dragon scale shield is a massive disapointment, but I've never used either 5* plate shield before.
Anyone who has used either plate shield line; could you please give me a rundown of how it handles most situations? Which is better, Volcanic or Ironmight?
Anyone else; could you please give me an idea whats it's worth?
Your advice really will impact my final decision of what to do with it, so thank you in advance for being polite and honest.

Ive only beat vanaduke once, his boss rewards don't really impress me (though I hear selling them is decent profit). Do people use volcanic or ironmight against him?
Honestly, I'm really after an all-purpose shield, and I'm curious if either of the plate shields could be that or if I should just sell this really good roll...

i have vps and i think
i have vps and i think ironmight would be wasting a good uv. Also because bts is the only good piercing shield.
vps was my first 5* shield and its a good shield to start with. works almost everywhere. vps has high normal stat which makes it an ideal for enemies who
deal splitt dmg. and the fire resistance is worth loss of piercing imo.

I see. Do you use your VPS a lot in T3? and have you used it in a shadow liar? How does it handle those?

VPS is a great all around T3 shield. It only specializes in Trojans and Vanaduke's Mace. But... in every other situation it'll do slightly better than average.
In T3 it is really better to have many, many shields... Grey Owlite, Crest/Dread Skelly, BTS, etc. Takes a long time to make such a collection. Until then VPS is quite adequate.
I'm not sure about using it in the Shadow Lairs. In Ult Snarby it would be a better than Grey Owlite, for example. But Dread, Crest, Barb Thorn or even Dragon Scale would be better. It would do great in Unknown Passage since there are many damage types there.

Alright, the consensus (from this small group XD) seems to be that ironmight is a waste of time- I know the bars arent terribly helpful, but does the ironmight really sacrifice that much normal defense for its pierce defense? and is the pierce def from it really that unhelpful?
Also, I thought lots of enemies in T3 didn't do as much normal damage? The wiki claims that only T1 and T2 has every enemy do a portion of it. I suppose I could see for myself by getting attacked but...

I agree and shared your concerns about T3 and non-normal damage. However my brother Rommil has VPS max elemental. The thing just tanks everything. It tanks hits from undead and slimes in FSC. It tanks elemental/pierce/shadow/normal damage in all strata it seems. I'm not sure how the damage splits come in exactly in T3, but the shield pretty much holds up to everything from what i can see. Anyhow, /w Rommil sometime if you want to get some 1st hand thoughts on the shield. My experience of it is 2nd hand from him. But i know he loves high end gear, and has not felt obligated to replace this piece yet.

Mine is max elemental and I enjoy using it in and outside of FSC. I wonder why I didn't get it sooner.
With that UV, it should be a pretty slick shield.
I like using it for status themed stratums since they have a all sorts of damage types (unlike using a BTS on a beast stratum, grey owlite for constructs, etc.)
One reason to do fsc outside of the good crown and heat farm would be to get the crest of almire. It's a little underwhelming for fsc itself (since once you get the tokens for the shield, you should be good enough to not need the shield to do fsc....)
But having a shadow shield is useful for undead and fiend themed stratums.
For everything else, you'll have your VPS. (or other, depending on stratum.)

The debate is tipped quite far in favor of VPS for personal use. If I can ever find a Boosted plate shield recipe I may get to work on it :P

5* plate shield is a tank vs Vana. Also i believe the bullets from his mask are elemental damage (as they chew through crest of almire). It would be an awesome shield.
