Sorry for the seemingly stupid question but I can't seem to find out how to save my spawn point? Do I have to talk to a certain NPC?

Spawn Points
To what I noticed so far, it seems that your location is saved unless you are allocated to another Haven Channel. Let me explain :
You log in and get allocated to the Haven 11.
You decide to go to the arcade to do a dungeon or you go inside a lockdown match.
When you are done with your dungeon or lockdown, you want to come back to Haven 11. Unfortunately, that channel is full.
You are automaticly assigned to another Haven channel (let's say 13).
Since it's not the same channel, you are respawned at the entrace, to avoid location errors.
That's how I belive it works (Please correct me if I'm wrong ^_^ ).

You cant save your desired spawn location. The game puts you on a Haven that's not so full and matches your game language.

But what if I want to play with a friend? How do I make sure we end up on the same server / channel then?

Play with friends
Quite simple, simply open your Social window and click on your friend. Then select "Join" in the popup menu and there you go, you are right beside him.

You can all go to a specific
You can all go to a specific instance of Haven, click "Haven ##" in the mini map and then tell it the one you want to go to.

Unless you are lucky at getting the same random Haven as your friend, you'll have to click on "join" in your friend panel or do what Gwen said too.
Both will works :).
The game by default should spawn you in the place you logout. If you were in Advanced Training Hall you'd be spawned at the entrance of Haven.
But sometimes it could glitch - a few times I was spawned in Bazaar when I return to Haven from a subtown (should be in Arcade).
