A handful of suggestions.

First I'd like to start off by saying what a wonderful opportunity it is that we can post our suggestions on this forum.

Now.

I have a couple of suggestions, that are both minor and major additions to the game. None of these additions come selfishly, I do not intend to alter energy costs for the benefit of the players, nor will I suggest increasing them.

//1.
The first issue I'd like to cover is Spur. There should be a 5 Star variant of the Spur series. As everyone knows, the Spur can only be made into a Winmillion, which is only a 4 star sword. Now I see that this was most likely done purposely, and I'm not saying that the Winmillion isn't powerful enough, just that who are we to deny what could be another perfectly good, themed sword? The idea that I had about this sword would split into 2 different 5 Star variants, like many other swords.

The first variant would be called the DIVINE CUTLASS, and would be a continuation of the Divine series for players that favor speed, rather than the slow Divine Avenger. The damage would be increased from the Winmillions at about the same ratio as other swords from 4star to 5star. The charge would be relatively the same as the Winmillion, just perhaps a full 360 degree spin when released, as well as the projectile (same damage as Winmillion's projectile). The sword should also be a nice off-white color, with a yellow trim, and have a vibrant gold glow to it. The Divine Cutlass should deal slightly more damage than the next variant.

The second variant would be known as GREED. I believe that name would fit the series nicely. The sword should look similar to the Winmillion, except have a dark green color, and have a gold glow to it, similar to that of the Divine Cutlass mentioned earlier. The sword's charge would spin the user 360 degrees, and cast off smaller, yellow projectiles in every direction surrounding the player. This sword would be ideal for warding off large masses of monsters, and is again, damage upgraded the same ratio as that of any 4star to 5star upgrade. Greed should be, if not only by a little, faster than the Divine Cutlass to make up for the Cutlass's damage superiority.

Now that the main part about the swords are out of the way, I would like to request a fix to the Winmillion's charge attack. I believe that the Arc Razor allows the player to stand still while they unleash their charge attack, allowing the blade to hit a monster, as well as the projectile. However, the Winmillion forces the player back when unleashing charge, allowing it to be nearly impossible to land the sword's initial hit. That is all that needs to be covered on this sword. I hope that everyone will understand my reasoning and see the sword's true potential. Once again, I am NOT saying that the sword isn't as powerful enough as it is, I am just saying that a few fixes should be made.

This idea suggests a massive addition to the surface world, only suitable to be released in something like an expansion pack. The idea consists of rethinking what is possible on the surface world of the planet. In the brief tutorial at the beginning of the game, players are given a taste of the story and plot surrounding the idea of the surface world, but then it all cuts off when introduced into the clockworks, evoking numerous questions. What ever happened to all the people at the rescue camp? Are there more stranded knights out there? Is there anything to be feared outside the walls of Haven? Are we the only ones here?

I understand that the whole concept of the game is to explore the neverending passageways of the clockworks, and I'm desperately trying to preserve the idea that that is the main purpose of the game, but I would like to maybe open up Haven as a city among many others on the planet's surface. Perhaps we could open up the gates at the entrance of the Town Square, and have it lead to a large undiscovered forest of some sort. Then maybe, if navigated correctly, could lead to more towns, with different vendors. And perhaps even, have certain towns require certain armor levels in order to enter. The vendors in these towns will be equipped with higher level merchandise as well.

I understand that this is a LOT TO ASK. But I see that it is a way to decrease the number of required Worlds. Maybe there can be less worlds, and let other people crowd the other towns to house to population easier. I also feel as if Haven would still hold the mass center of people, so maybe you could host special events or parties of some sort in the other towns, to try and draw the population. Maybe make a town dedicated to PvP, etc.

One of the biggest issues around that I know of, is personal color. What should be done about it? I believe that you should be stuck with your personal color for the entire game, because you chose it at the start. But perhaps people are sick of the color they chose, and are desperate to change it. There should be a way to pay Energy to change your color every time you want a switch. I'm not looking to make it a high cost, and I'm not looking to make it something easily obtained in a second either. I believe that anywhere between 250-500 Energy should be the cost to change your personal color. That way, you can't just sit around and wait for your mist bar to fill up, then decide to change your color.

Haven, any renovations to be made? I believe so! Take yourself to the Town Square. What do you see? I see opportunity. Something that could have been the center of attention, where everyone is all the time. But now its rare to even find 2 people in that place. Keep the vendors and traders in the bazaar, but in the Town Center, there should be events being hosted at certain times. Maybe make a few Spiral Knights Holidays that can be celebrated there!

//5.
This idea is for another renovation to Haven. Take yourself to the town square, and head East. When you go up the stairs, and reach a wall, look beyond the wall. I believe there should be another region of Haven there. Perhaps a "garden" of some sort, judging by how there is a tree, and a few flowers over there. Maybe make a simple looped pathway with a lake, or something. It could be creative too, like, maybe make the lake a liquid coming from a large pipe, and the snipes (those birds) like to swim in it, or something like that.

I know this is most likely a re-post of many other ideas and suggestions regarding guilds, but I can't help but try and get the word out. What should be done? Guild emblems, different names for guild ranks that can be customized by the guild master, and you should also be able to move furniture and edit the Guild Hall to make it a more activate place. Maybe also change the design, because by default it looks like the Clockwork Terminal terrain, which is dull and boring. Maybe you'd have to pay CE to do it, or something.

#######################################################################################

And that's it! Those are all my suggestions for benefiting Spiral Knights so far! Thank you for listening to what I had to say.
I'll list a quick recap of the suggestions I have, and I'll be sure to add more later! If there's anything you don't understand, post it, I'll try and clarify as best I can, or fix what I have said. There may be a few spelling errors and mistypes, if you could let me know about them it would be MUCH APPRECIATED!! Thank you!

//1. Spur Variants DIVINE CUTLASS/GREED. Winmillion Fix.

//2. New Towns, leaving Haven.

//3. Personal color, 250-500 Energy Fee to change.

//4. Additions to Haven Town Square, events, etc.

//5. Garden District in Haven.

//6. Guild Improvements.

I hope some of these suggestions are taken with deep consideration. Thank you for your support!

You're right about the Town

You're right about the Town Square being a lonely place. I'll fill you in on two things since (I'm guessing) you weren't part of the preview event.

1.) There was clearly going to be an area to the east of the town square. It was blocked by a barricade and an NPC. It was replaced with a solid wall when the game went public. We never got to see that area either way.

2.) There was a special gate (3 or 4 floors) that always had the same levels that was accessible from the town square (it was below the fountain, to the right of the NPCs there). It was basically an easy, practice gate. Not sure why it was removed.

So at one point it was a bit meatier. Also, during special weekends during the preview event, there was a decorative banner (and maybe some other decorations). So I think you will be seeing that in the future when a special weekend happens (but since the game just started officially, it may be awhile). I would imagine that an area to the east will open up someday, but who knows what it will be like or what it will be for. They should add a bit more to the town square though to spice it up. This is inspiring me to post another suggestion...

I also like the idea of a bit more exploration on the surface, but I think diving into the clockworks should still be the "core" gameplay (*rimshot*).

Also would like the ability to change color without starting a brand new character, thats pretty rediculous. Not sure whether it should be something youre charged energy for, maybe just something you can only do every so often. Or just pay crowns.

As for the other stuff I am indifferent so I won't comment further.

Yup

Yea, I was only here for about only the Early Access Weekend, so I never experienced any of the earlier beta things. But I totally believe that those Town Square renovations are necessary. That's probably the best idea out of all the others. I assumed the Preview Event had something to do with an "Event", where there were unique elevators dedicated to the event. Why should that stop? Keep hosting events like that!

That's just what I think anyway.

the elevator didnt seem like

the elevator didnt seem like a beta specific thing to me at the time, i just thought it was the developers intent to have something like that there. but im sure they had a valid reason for taking it away, whether it was something players could abuse (always ended with a treasure vault) or just something they only intended for the preview "event" -- which may have lasted a bit longer than something you would normally call an event :)
