I am 31 years old and I have yet to graduate college because of games just like this one. Or rather, my inability to control myself and my consumption of games like this one.

I have slept a total of 4 hours since I heard about this game on Saturday.

Devs, You have created the digital equivalent of Crystal Meth. Spiral Knights is inexpensive and easily accessible.

PLEASE, for people like me, and for the children and young adults out there whom I would rather not see end up like me,

PLEASE build some parental controls into this game before you completely derail the educations/careers of millions of today's gamers.

Yeh, they have it limited

Yeh, they have it limited already. It's called only giving you 100 free energy every 22 hours.

Maybe you should seek some help, though. I'm sure they have support groups for gaming addicts, just like every other addiction. Because the problem is not with the devs or the game itself, it's really with your inability to control yourself. I myself am in college, but I'm only 19, and I'm definitely not letting this game affect my studying habits or how often I go to class.

No way man, even if you don't buy CE with real world money, you might be lucky that people are willing to be nice enough to give you CE for a reasonable in-game price. Just this last Friday/Saturday. I was playing Spiral Knights from 10pm at night to 8am in the morning non-stop and I haven't payed a single REAL dime in this game. Why? It is because of these things...
I was lucky, I was offered CE with reasonable amount, I was offered CE if I would go on runs with people. I was extremely lucky to find P2P members to get me so addicted in this game, and I didn't have to spend a real world dime! Now that is some serious *hit! 0_0

I have to agree with court12b in this one.
Now I don't really have a game-addict problem. But when it comes trying to get to tier 3, and you can't save your progress within the game, you just can't stop!

Warning labels and Parental

Warning labels and Parental controls for 31 year old's. 'nuff said.

p.s. Sure I could go on a rant about it and get all heated but in the end he's still not going to graduate and blame the devs for his problems.

@ Matoro & erogath

@ Matoro: I never said anything about dropping real money into the game. =/ Maybe you should actually read my post before you direct crap at me. Also, spell my name correctly, it's kind of rude that you don't know how to properly spell "cheese" (especially when it's RIGHT there for you to copy/paste, even).

Really, the 100 free energy every 22 hours is for the kids that play, because they're not going to be able to convince their parents to drop real money into it and I'm sure a good chunk of them are either new to the game or wouldn't know about the market otherwise.

EX. I saw someone almost get completely jipped by some edit/"jerk" trying to sell 100 CE for 4k, while the price in the market was only 3k. They were just like "OKAY, sounds great!" Until my boyfriend pointed out to them that they were being had.

Also, the game auto-saves, I don't even know what you're talking about with this "saving" nonsense.

And if you agree with him, then you should seek rehab too. Being addicted to games is terribly unhealthy for you, just like any other addiction ever. If you're too stubborn to do that, then maybe you should take breaks between playing, and actually see the sunlight.

@ erogath: Lol, right. I hate it when people blame video games for problems, theirs or otherwise.

The only part of Matoro's

The only part of Matoro's post that I'll defend there is the "saving" thing was probably a reference to the fact you can't leave a clockworks level and pick up where you left off.

Yeah, I think there should be a save feature. So when you log back on again, a message would pop up saying "Would you like to continue your progress through the clockworks?" and if you choose to go onto a different lift of the clockworks, a message would pop up "Your about to go into a new clockworks depth, if you do so, your progress of your other depth will be deleted." Or something like that.

A little nice save feature would be nice so it doesn't really have to encourage people to play from 9pm to 12pm (Seriously! It takes me that long to use up all my Mist Energy + 10 CE (since I am doing arenas, and elite challenges, and st00f) Also again, players always want to try to make it to tier 2 or tier 1 or tier 3 before they go to bed! To make most out of their Mist Energy!)!

Saving, then, in that case is

Saving, then, in that case is still unnecessary in an MMO. There are really few elevators between breaks/tiers. The ONLY valid point to having one, imo, would be if the servers unexpectedly crashed or something. But at the same time, I would hope the devs would dish out refunds or something, as it wouldn't have been something we could have prepared for.

And if it SERIOUSLY takes you 12+ hours to use only your mist tank, then you can't possibly be doing all the things you're saying you're doing.

I'm still only in Tier2, but quite frankly I don't mind that I've spent the last like, week, on trying to get to Tier3. I'm not going to try to get to Tier3 overnight as that would be so unhealthy, and making the most out of your mist energy, really? That's like, doing one full Tier2 run and then stopping for the evening (assuming you had to revive once or twice, and opened all the energy gates). Also, everyone starts out Tier1 capable, so saying that they want to make it to Tier1 before they go to bed is silly.
