I waited all night for my Mist Energy to be at 100 to hopefully be able to "trade" it for Crowns over at the NPC on Town Square. When I finally got to it, surprise! It only accepts CE to be converted to Crowns. I thought I had 5886 Crowns already but seems not. x_x
Well that didn't go well...
Oh but you do have the "potential" to earn those 5886 crowns now that you've waited...just go play the game with that mist. Almost anywhere so long as you do a full tier or at least the second half of a tier (floors 4-7,14-17,24-28)
Or if you have excess materials, you can just use that mist to craft some 2* weapons and sell them on the AH. Be sure to sell for 1 crown (or a little more) than the lowest "Buy" price. Don't try to sell a calibur for 5886 crowns, it's not going to happen unless you have an awesome UV on it, or run across someone being foolish with their money.
I'm still a little rusty when it comes to doing the Tiers especially when there are other people in the party. The thing is, I get left behind because most of the time they just run off ahead but I want to check out each and every breakable thing on the map to possibly get something out of it. The result is that I always get left behind and am forced to ignore the other breakables because the party members are already waiting for me.
Would it be possible to deal with Tiers above 1 on my own using only the default equipment?
Yes, possible, but not recommended at all. I guess you're new, work your way up into 2* items. For suggestions, check the new recruits section, there's a lot of helpful advice there.
I remember when I was a newbie and thought this would work, good times. :'3
Also, T2 can get a little sticky with protogear (just getting in would be a challenge in itself!)
Add me as a friend in-game, my knight name is "Astrobug". I'll see if I can
help you learn the ropes around here.
@Metalcase
If you want to increase the crown potential of your 100 mist:
1) join random parties, chat and add friends who don't annoy you
1b) join a guild
2) join knights from the social tab that are already at or near terminal since the crowns for levels after a terminal get more crowns & heat

In regards to your "slowness" it's actually fine. I have tons of friends who have an "ECC" policy. Every coin collected.
Things that drop coins:
- Both types of bushes
- lamps
- mail boxes and hydrants
- some other various one off items
Things that do not drop coins so you should not spend time breaking them:
- breakable blocks (both 1 hit & 3 hit blocks)
- explosive cubes (both instant and timed)
---
Also, if you want to use mist for crafting and other things, consider getting another account with its own mist accrual.
You can read about that here.
Big bushes don't leave anything. Just the tiny little grass patches. This is right, right? I'm 99.99% positive that big bushes will never leave you anything. You are probably getting left behind breaking blocks and bushes that leave nothing.
P.S. Until you are in position that you do not have to ever worry about ce/cr you are right to want to pickup EVERY coin and heart!!!!
Big bushes drop coins at a severely reduced rates relative to the small ones, but they still drop coins.
I have found a gold coin at least a few times.... so have others.
Did you ever wonder why someone was a lawnmower in wolver den's holding up your party? It wasn't just for fun to cut all the bushes down.
I cut it all down. I primarily solo and I only start parties so if you join and you don't like it you can leave or you can wait at the party button.
Most folks realize you're going to cut it all down and eventually start helping to speed things along.

I would want to join a guild but I can't seem to locate one that doesn't require me to be constantly active. I mean, I play Spiral Knights but not to a certain degree where I am online almost all the time. I don't want to have to commit to a guild that expects me to be often online when I can't do that.

Ahh, that's also one of my "weaknesses" I suppose. I just can't seem to leave any tangible object untouched. I have this weird urge to wipe them all out for some odd reason. :/

Me and Aphrodite (from the email support team) have had this in a discussion awhile before. It seems accounts logged in to the same computer / laptop will share Mist Energies with each other so even if I use another account, it would still share the Mist Energy with my main one thus, rendering it pretty much, useless. Would I have to get another computer for your said crafting stuff?

-------------- SIDE NOTE ----------------
The forums should really get an update. Something like phpBB3 or SMF should do. The lack of quote functionality in Drupal is a pain. :/

So I'm not the only one...
Also, if you charge any amount of CE to an account, it is considered a "paid" account and will no longer share the "Mist Pool" with any other accounts.
"Big bushes drop coins at a severely reduced rates relative to the small ones, but they still drop coins"
you ocasionaly get hearts too, which can be a lifesaver with subpar teams
@metalcase
Yes, if you don't want to remain F2P (Free to Play) and only have one computer, then you will not be able to make a second account. The only way to get a separate mist accrual is by having one account as paid (even the smallest amount) or by having a separate computer.
This is not a requirement to enjoy your time on SK, but it sure does make things more easy.
My rationale for paying even just a bit is the fact that within a few weeks I had felt my enjoyment was worth it.
Unfortunately, once you pay, you are more likely to pay again in the future, so it can be a slippery slope if you start. (I can attest to this =\)
Huh. I seem to recall the "Energetic Knight" saying how anything that you can use Mist Energy on, you can use Crystal Energy on. And vice versa. Completely interchangeable. The poor, deluded, misinformed liar.
I made the same mistake when I first started too. If you run a full T1, you make about that much though.
